EchoRaine's Cry

Chapter one

"Hello there young one..... Don't be alarmed... You're dreaming.... I am Halfstar... Once a leader of DuskClan, your home.....ive come to tell you..... Fol... Low.... You....r.... H..... E... A.... R.... T... " The voice of the Former DuskClan leader faded away as EchoKit sat up from his nest, he was 4 moons old, only two away from being an apprentice. The Small kit looked around the den, sighing sadly when he didn't see his mother, nor his father currently he was the only kit in camp, no other cats had become queens recently, His mother MorningStar was the the leader of DuskClan, she was always too busy to play with him, and his father being a well known and sorta famous warrior meant he hardly saw his father as well. EchoKit rose to his paws, stretching and yawning afterwards he trotted out of the nursery, his tail held high, the clan was bustling as always, cats coming in and out of camp on patrol after patrol, his mother was nowhere to be seen, she was probably off leading the clan though so he couldn't be mad at her for that. He continued on towards the fresh kill pile where he picked out a large thrush, it was especially large for a kit his size, he struggled to even Cary it at that, he ended up sorta dragging it, and he took it all the way to the medicine den, where MoonLeap the DuskClan medicine cat resided "Hey MoonLeap! " the kit called through a mouth of Thrush feathers, MoonLeap came out of the medicine den, he looked around confused as to who called him till he looked down "Ah, Hello there EchoKit.. You alone again today? " EchoKit nodded "Yep! I brought you this thrush! " he purred softly. MoonLeap smiled slightly "My, My... Did you catch this yourself!? You're just a kit! " he was clearly joking around, EchoKit giggled a bit "Hehe, No! I just got it of the freshKill pile! But I'd totally be able to catch a thrush this size, easily! " MoonLeap let out a Murrow of amusement "I'm sure you're very capable, would you like to hang out in the medicine den again today? " EchoKit nodded "yeah! " he paused "if that's ok with you" The kit really had nothing else to do today, and plus he enjoyed being in the medicine den, and learning about herbs and all of that. MoonLeap nodded "of course, and if your hungry we can share the thrush, it's much bigger than what I can eat alone! " EchoKit nodded and started to try and carry the thrush into the den, MoonLeap picked it up for him and carried it in, EchoKit followed close behind moonLeap. MoonLeap shared the thrush with EchoKit before going on to sorting Herb's, a bundle of Tansy started to roll away from moonLeap as he wasn't paying attention, EchoKit jumped up and picked it up in his jaws, careful not to damage the Herbs "Here you go MoonLeap, the Tansy tried to escape! And I stopped it! " he spoke with a muffled tone but anyone could tell how proud of himself he was for this. MoonLeap looked over to the Kit "Ah thank you. Wait.... How'd you know that was Tansy..? " the kit set the Tansy down "From watching you! " he purred a little bit, MoonLeap got an  idea and showed EchoKit some little black seeds "what are these then? " he asked EchoKit's ears shot up immediately. "There poppy seeds! And they help with shock, pain, or to put a cat to sleep! But more than two could have a negative effect! " EchoKit Stated confidently "yes... That's right.. What about these? " MoonLeap moved the poppy seeds out of the way, making sure to keep them on a seperate leaf than these next seeds he pulled out "what are these..? But be careful with them. Ok? " EchoKit nodded "They look like Poppy seeds... But they smell different... Their.... Foxglove seeds! They help with the heart but can cause paral-y-sis! " EchoKit had a struggle saying paralysis but he had it right. "That is... Also correct.. How did you know that? I haven't used these in front of you before" MoonLeap was very confused, however there was hope that he may get an apprentice. "Oh, well uhh I had a dream... I wasn't... Me.. But another cat, I had orange paws and dark gray fur... I gave poppy seeds to a cat for pain... But the cat died... From poison.... The dream ended there, but later on another cat came to me and told me that it was Foxglove seeds! " he spoke about his strange dreams, moonLeap then realized that EchoKit had seen SpiderEye his mentor, when he was younger and still learning herbs. "Ah... I see... What you must have seen was my mentor, SpiderEye when he was younger he had no mentor and had to learn herbs mostly on his own, he accidentally gave a cat foxglove seeds instead of poppy seeds... Anyway let me know if you have any more of these... Dreams.. Okay? " EchoKit nodded "yeah! " MoonLeap was thinking about something "Could you sort these leaves, take out the rotten one's for me..? " EchoKit nodded, his eyes sparkling he seemed exited to help he clumsily ran over, slightly sliding to a halt he began to sort through the leaves picking out any rotten one's and putting them off to the side. "EchoKit, I'll be back I need to talk to someone, keep sorting those herbs, and if any cats come looking for me tell them I'll be back soon.. Ok? " echoKit nodded. "Okay! " MoonLeap looked back at the kit before padding out of the medicine den, he went to High Rock where he was searching for Morningstar. "MorningStar? Can we speak for a moment? " the she cat had been resting in her den, thinking about the prophecy they'd received seasons ago. MoonLeap's voice brought her back to reality "Uh, yes, come in, what is is MoonLeap? " she sat up in her nest and looked at the gray tom who stepped into her den, he dipped his head respectfully "It's about your kit.. EchoKit-" he was cut off by the now slightly panicked mother "Is he ok?? " MoonLeap quickly calmed the she-cat "yes, he's okay it's nothing like that, I came to ask when he reaches his apprenticeship, I'd like to take him as an apprentice, from what he's told me he's been having visions of past medicine cats, and he already knows so much about herbs... " MoonLeap looked at her with hope in his eyes. The she-cat took this into consideration ".... Yes, if you believe he's capable of becoming a medicine cat you may take him as an apprentice when he's apprenticed.
