Unfortunately for you and Ryan, she’d been called into work on the morning of the fourteenth, based on ‘emergency’. It was all very last minute and caused a lot of stress for her wife, even if you tried to promise her that it wasn’t a big deal and you could sort something out, but anyone would be stressed while finding out their plans for the day had been spontaneously ruined that same morning without a verbal warning beforehand.
She originally had plans to go on a family trip to the zoo during the day, wanting to show Star all the adorable animals that she’s never had the pleasure of seeing in person. Then you two were meant to be heading to a romantic dinner tonight at the same fancy restaurant you took her to, the first time you ever popped the question to the beauty. All while Ryan's mom watched Star for you two, so that you both got some well deserved time together.
“I’ll just shift the reservation, it’s okay,” you promised her, kissing her shoulder as she tied back her hair to keep it out of her face.
“You’re such a sweetheart,” the woman whispered, making sure to press a lasting kiss to your lips. She could tell you were exhausted, and she didn’t blame you, it was barely even four in the morning and she was already up and ready to leave the house.
The girl couldn’t leave without making a hundred percent sure you was okay with her heading in, moving over to where you’d tucked yourself under the covers again, trying to shield your bare upper half from the cold morning air.
You’d planned on getting some more sleep before your munchkin woke up and decided she needed her stepmother to feed her instantly, something she often did every other morning when Ryan wasn't around to wake up early enough to fix breakfast before heading off to work.
“Still, I feel bad just leaving you here baby.” You shook your head, cupping her cheek with your soft hand.
“Ryan, would you chill. I'm going to be alright. Stop stressing so much,” You chuckled, finding some amusement in the idea of your better half feeling so guilty about something that was completely out of her control, especially when the issue could be so easily resolved.
She rested her head on your T-shirt covered chest for a few seconds, just until the girl really had to leave so she wouldn’t be late.
“I’ll take Star out somewhere, I still got to win her over, remember?” Ryan rolled her eyes at your words, pecking your lips one more time before standing up.
“You know she loves you already,” your wife mumbled, referring to all the moments you two had shared over the few years she and you had been together.
