It was Saturday and Jungkook had smiled all the way to the Kim's house. The day was bright, blue skies and a little warmth in the air. They'd had a video call with Elizabeth who was at the stage of being fed up and desperately wanting the baby to arrive. The couple had made her laugh and shown her around the nursery and she reassured them that she would be in touch as soon as there was any news. They stayed in the nursery for a while after the call had ended and after a blissfully erotic bath together, Jungkook left his husband in Minjun's room and made his way to the Kims.
"Uncle Kookie!" comes the familiar cry of excitement when Jungkook enters the Kim household.
"I thought you were too big to carry at five but at nine I think you are definitely too big." Jungkook says warmly, catching the growing boy as he throws himself at him.
"Where's TaeTae?" Minjun asks, the apples of his cheeks dusted rouge from where he'd been jumping up and down awaiting Jungkook's arrival.
Jungkook puts the boy on his feet, "He's finishing the fossils in your room."
"Are you pouting, MJ?" Jin asks from the sofa.
"No." the boy says.
"That's what JK says when he isn't pouting too." Namjoon adds.
"Are you ready to go, Chipmunk?" Jungkook asks, completely ignoring Namjoon and Jin who are both laughing.
"I've been ready forever, Uncle Kookie."
"You are as over dramatic as your Appa-Jin."
"There's nothing wrong with being overly dramatic." Jin says.
"If you say so, Jinnie. I've got two of you in the house." Namjoon says with an eye roll.
"You love us, Appa-Joon because we can cook." Minjun says quite honestly.
Jungkook laughs, "And you definitely need people in the house who can cook, Joon."
"I can cook." Namjoon states.
All three guys turn and look at him, almost singing their response in unison, "No, you can't."
"Isn't it time for you to go?" Namjoon asks.
Jungkook turns his attention to the boy who still means the world to him. Over the last five years, he has worked hard to ensure that Minjun felt as much a part of his life as he always has. It hasn't been an easy ride especially when he started school and his time was limited. In that time, Jungkook started at Cyber City, the internship lasted six months before they took him on and he more or less landed his dream job. The internship worked alongside his degree as he finished education and they overlapped slightly but he made it work even if he was run ragged spending time with those people that mattered to him too. He'd actually been thankful for Tae's massages and calming techniques when there were times it all became a little stressful. As a couple they placed importance on keeping a routine with Minjun and Tae saw him a lot when he went to the art room after school twice a week in the first year. The Kims were sure that going to the art room twice a week had played a big part in helping him settle in at school and they made sure they continued to contribute to the centre long after Minjun stopped attending.
"Checklist, uncle Kookie." The boy requests.
Jungkook smiles, he thought that things would change dramatically as the boy got older but some things have just adapted over the years. As with the dinosaurs becoming fossils, the dinosaur trainer becoming the archaeologist, the checklist had also been amended.
"Funky pumps?" he asks.
Minjun wiggles a foot in the air. He decided that he liked bright patterned shoes and everyone joked that he takes after Tae for his taste in clothes. "Check." He rarely misses Jungkook's hand when they high-five these days and there's definitely more power behind it, the bigger he gets.
