✯ CHAPTER FIVE ✯
❝What in the name of Merlin's beard is that?❞
"YOU'RE JOKING."
It was dinner time. Harry and Estella were both sitting in the Great Hall, and had just finished telling Ron about how they had made it on to the Quidditch team. Ron had a piece of steak and kidney pie halfway to his mouth, but he'd forgotten all about it.
"Quidditch?" he said. "But first years never -- you must be the youngest players in about --"
"-- a century," finished Harry, his mouth full of pie. Estella gasped in shock. She hadn't known this. "Wood told me."
Ron was so amazed at what he was hearing that he just sat, staring in awe at his friends.
"We both start training next week," said Estella happily.
Harry nodded his head. "Yes, only don't tell anyone. Wood wants to keep it a secret."
Fred and George Weasley -- the twins Estella had briefly spoken to at the arrival feast -- now came into the hall, spotted Harry and Estella and hurried over to them.
"Well done," said George (well, Estella thought it was George anyway) in a low voice. "Wood told us. We're on the team too -- beaters."
"Ugh," Estella groaned. "Does that mean I'm going to have to put up with you two idiots being annoying everytime I go to practice?" She was being sarcastic. She just hoped that the twins would understand that.
"So funny, Lupin," George rolled his eyes. "Made me laugh alot."
"I tell you, we're going to win that Quidditch Cup for sure this year," said Fred, changing the subject back to Quidditch. "We haven't won since Charlie left, but this year's team is going to be brilliant. You two must be good, by the way, Harry, Estella, Wood was almost skipping when he told us."
"Anyway," continued George, "we've got to go. Lee Jordan reckons he's found a secret passageway out of the school."
"Bet it's that one behind the statue of Gregory the Smarmy that we found in our first week," Fred shook his head. "See you."
"Wait!" called out Estella, as the two of them began to walk away. She didn't totally understand what they were doing, but whatever it was sounded really fun. "Can I come with you?"
Both of the twins turned quickly to look at her. They both looked as though they were ready to laugh.
"Lupin...We appreciate that you have a passion for mischief already," one of them said, shaking his head, "but we're going to have to say no to that. We barely know you yet. We can't risk exposing all our secrets to you."
Estella rolled her eyes as the other twin continued talking.
"Besides, you're only first year. You aren't skilled in any of this yet and might get us caught...When you're older you can come with us."
"All right, thanks," said Estella, though inside she was fuming. She may have been in first year but that didn't mean she was an idiot. She knew how to mess around without getting caught, but she didn't say any of this. "Have a nice time then."
"Goodbye," said the twins in unison, and they disappeared out of the Hall.
Not even five minutes later, someone alot less welcome showed up at the Gryffindor table: Malfoy, flanked by Crabbe and Goyle. He looked directly at Harry and Estella.
"Having a last meal, are you?" he asked them. "When are you getting on the train home?"
"You seem so much braver now that you're back on the ground with your little friends," said Estella coolly, even though Crabbe and Goyle were far from little. Still, she knew they weren't going to do anything, not only were they both cowards but they were also stood in a room full of Professor's and Prefects.
