Warssa Alise watched the night sky. This was her custom. Every evening after the hunting trapping fishing and gardening she relaxed by the fire outside her tree hut and gazed at the fire. Warssa was content and happy. She was 23 annuals old. she did not grab a male and settle down to have 10 kids. She liked her freedom. She was a stately looking female with blue skin, her markings were beige lines crisscrossing her face and body. Her yellow eyes were the eyes of a hunter. Her bright red hair was traditional but she wore hers like a lions main, full and untamed. Warssa was one of the best hunters and trackers on the planet. She never failed to come home with food of some kind. she was fast like a cheetah, and stealthy like the wolf. Her weapons were permeative but she was proficient with them. Most of her eleven brothers and sisters were married and popping out children. They had been trying to repopulate the planet after a major meteorite had struck their planet and all but destroyed the life that had been here. She knew the harsh truths of her ancestors from folk lore past down over the years.
Warssa was an enigma to most. Why she did not want to belong to a man and have children this was almost unheard of. Warssa had developed her hunting skills because that gave her the right to choose. She choose to stay single for now. Maybe forever she did not know. The tree huts they lived in were more like tree hollows . The tree they chose was indeed hollow on the inside. They had carved furniture and hewn rock to make each place unique and pleasant to live in some even had elaborate caves under the tree for protection. She preferred the out doors as often as possible.
There were many unusual species here. Warssa knew them all and was friends with most. That was part of the secret of her great hunting ability but she would never tell it. The others the water people the snake people and the winged people were her friends and she spent much of her time with them. It took some getting used to their ways, but it was worth it.This night as she watched the sky she say a flash of light in the mountains. That was unusual. She would investigate in the morning but tonight she would relax until bed time then climb the tree of their ancestral home to retire in a hammock under the stars. Who knew what adventures the new day would hold.
Terron the captain of the Aston colony ship had landed the plane in the mountains . There was a waterfall. Their favorite as the ship could be hidden under the falls without suspicion. They had been traveling two years from the planet Ashton where most decided to live almost indefinitely. That's why they needed new planets to call home. This one promised to be comparable with the atmosphere at home. It promised a brand new start for the Ashton people. Although they brought all kinds of problems with them, they did not realize the had. Life would continue. Once they were settled in they would send out exploration groups. Terron had gotten very close with Jane known to him as Starla . She was a robot but she was all he wanted in a woman and a mate. If she had a human body she would be perfect. He would not send her but scouts would go. First robot scouts then human. They could retrieve information from the bots from their camera and chip set up. No use taking chances if he didn't need to. Of course they would be camouflaged so as not to attract attention. They would cover one to three hundred miles a day in their search. Everyone was a ball of nerves everyone wanted to be out of the ship but Terron held his own against such until more data had been gathered.
Warrsa rose early. She headed to the mountains to explore the region . She really thought she had imagined the siting but had to check. When she got to the area she had seen the light there she saw disturbing bald spots on the mountain. Was this more meteorites? She could smell strange scents. She did not see anything but her senses said their was something there.
She did not go unnoticed either, when Terron first saw her he as exhilarated. Terron wore no fragrance but Warssa's senses sparked. He had been out investigating the area with Skyla when they had wondered into the area that this woman creature found them in. Terron could feel the anxiousness of the woman. She seem to be picking up on their presents. Maybe his smell or even his heart beat? Most would not, but this woman was different.
When Jane or Skyla as she was called emerged Warssa did not seem to detect her presence. She signaled she would follow Warrsa back the way she came. Terron was not happy about this but felt it the only possibility.Skyla was not prepared for what she found . Warssa visited with the water people. They even took Warssa down in the depths of their watery realm, a huge lake. Skyla wondered how she was breathing under water. She returned later with an abundance of fish and sea food.
Then the snake people, very strange indeed. They walked upright. Very quickly angered but quite pleased with Warssa. Things and brings were very different on this planet. Warssa was off next to the wind people . There was a huge bird shaped from multi colored feathers marking the entrance to the camp. Warssa marched in as if she owned the camp. She gathered with a group and they took her on an areal flight of the area. She left with enough food to feed a small Amy. This was an amazing girl and an unusual land. Skyla could not wait to return to base to tell Terron what she had seen and the places Warssa had inadvertently lead her to, but just then Warrsa said did you like what you saw. She was looking straight at Skyla!
Skyla was ag- gas , she did not expect to be detected.
Skyla slipped away as fast as she could hopping that was enough. She did not know how to react to this detection. Warrsa was amused. She had sensed no animosity coming from this individual, only curiosity. She did not detect a heart beat like she did from the first but she had seen her foot prints. She had lead her ways that were sure to show up the prints. She had also shared with her friends her findings so that incase there were problems she would have alleys. her friends
were quite fierce fighters. The area view of the landing spot had been quite telling also she had seen where it looked like something had dug deep into the earth.
Would these people be peaceful or was war on the front?
