Before I make it to my bedroom to change my clothes, the doorbell sounds. He's already at the door.. I contemplate if I keep him waiting while I change or just risk him seeing me like this. I really don't know what to do.
The doorbell sounds again..

"Shit!.. Ah forget it."

I rush over towards the door way then stop to compose myself. I then approach the door and take the chain lock off and open the door. There he is..

 There he is

"Hey.. sorry about the wait"

"Oh no, don't worry
about it. I should apologize
for bothering you so late."

"Not at all.. please come in.."

I step to the side holding the door open for him to inside...

"Are you sure I'm not intruding..
I sorta feel bad.."

"No, no don't worry.
It's really okay."

I close the door behind me. He stops at the end of the doorway to take his shoes off. I show him the way to the living room so he can have a seat..

"Would you like a drink?
Water? Tea? Anything?"

"Oh water, please.
Thank you"

"Coming right up."

I walk over to the kitchen to get the drink. I reach up and open the cabinet, grab a cup then walk over to the fridge. I grab the water from the fridge then fill the cup. All this time I am still trying to process the fact that Christopher is sitting on MY sofa.. in MY apartment. My stomach feels like it's in knots and doing cartwheels all at once. I never really understand that whole "having butterflies" thing.. but if it feels anything like this.. then I get it now.
I make my way back over towards the living room and hand him the cup of water..

"So what's going on?
What made you go for
a walk so late at night?"

"Oh right. Well, like I said
I had a lot on my mind and
couldn't focus on my work.
I figured some fresh air
would help."

"Oh that makes sense.
Some fresh air definitely
helps clear the mind.
Especially on a beautiful
fall night."

"Ahh yes. See you get it!"

"Haha yes definitely.
The fall will be gone too
soon, gotta take the
opportunity to enjoy it."

"Yeah definitely!"

We start talking about all the things we love about the autumn. Then we continue discussing all other seasons of the year. I listen to him attentively as he talks about things back in Australia and he listens to my stories of back home. We tell embarrassing childhood stories and laugh wholeheartedly. We become so consumed by our conversation that we lose track of the time.
