A dreary day was it on October 31st 2020, when the once crystalline sky's gave way to the blackened soot of ashen clouds. Quickly plummeting everyone's once cheery mood; into a rather despondent, sullen one.
for many of the resident's of Dasherville, South Carolina is was just another winter's day; as they rushed to beat the chilly air in favor of a crackling fire by the hearth side, warmed by the fire's light.
It was a different story for one person, who could tell something ominous loomed in the thickening of the air; making it almost insufferable to even breath in the frostbitten air.
the silence of the midmorning only being broken by the shrill caterwaul, of a old battered flip phone, that had seen better years being drug from the depts. of a battered jacket.
a flash of a name scrawled across the screen simply read Privet's, as it continued to shrill out even louder it's caterwaul. numbed fingers reach out to press into the answer button, with a click it picks up the call.
"This is Detective Parker, what do you need Privet's?"
"Well hello to you to, Parker. I swear you get always seem to get more cheerful every time, i call just to say hello to my best partner I have ever had the pleasure of working with." He retorts through the device.
"Damn it Privet's I do not have time for your stupid games, now what is it that you need?" I somehow managed to not grit my teeth at his taunts.
"Well if you must know, Mister someone peed in my cheerios this morning; there has been a murder reported sometime this morning. As well as them needing you on the scene as soon as you are able to." He deadpanned.
"So why do they need me at the scene, as soon as possible then? Shouldn't this be easy for them to find out what happened to the victim?" Now he was just being even more annoying then before.
"You see, its not as simply as one would think it would be. They are asking for you specifically to be on this case." Came his solemn reply.
"I am rather busy at the moment, dealing with other cases at the moment. Can they not send in another detective to head the case?" A silent pause followed, before his reply.
"He's back" was all that was said..
instantly my blood turned into ice, how could this be that he had returned after all these years of being dormant.. The things he did, the crimes he committed.. It was absolutely horrendous, even the most senior detectives had a hard time keeping their lunches in their stomachs; and not out on the floor.
"Tell them not to touch anything, I am on my way now, make sure the crime scene is secure. Oh and privet's make sure that band of rabid animals they call reporter's does not get wind of this." Click... The call was ended, as Parker stood silently in the middle of the parking lot.
