Educational Annoyances

"Alright, class welcome back to school. I hope all of you have been revising! Do not forget that this is one the last classes you will be taking before your end-of-year exams. Please do remember this the Brandwealth Region's best secondary school, so if you fail, immediate expulsion will be put into effect. Anyway, we will be starting with History."

Endless groans erupted from around the classroom. The holidays had been cramped with revision for the upcoming test, barely any free time to even eat. Alexander had received a lack of respite, and had occasionally suffered from headaches consecutively. History had been the subject Alexander had enjoyed the most, but even now his desire for it had purged due to the hours of revision performed each day. His parents had been encouraging him for this exam, but all that resulted in was a further surge of fury from Alexander.

Alexander's blue eyes flickered with resentment for this school, especially for the teacher, Mrs Henderson. It seemed she only taught because of her salary, for she detested teaching. Her plump body settled down onto her large chair, and the lesson commenced.
"Why do we always have to have Mrs Henderson for our classes? Are we that unlucky?" Oliver, Alexander's friend, whispered. Oliver shared the same ideology as Alexander, the thing that differed was the fact that Oliver loved Rosie, renowned as Mrs Henderson's 'teacher's pet'. Alexander additionally had another friend called Michael, who was unfortunately situated at the opposite end of the classroom, close to the teacher's desk.

"No talking at the back," barked Mrs Henderson a sudden lust of fury surfacing from her narrowed eyebrows, "Unless you wish to see the principal and earn yourselves suspension. Would you like that, boys?"
"No, Mrs-"
"That was intended to be a rhetorical question. Now, Rosie, do you know when the Second World War started, and when did it officially end?"
Rosie's head perked up, and a moment of silence signalled her thinking intensely. Finally, she said, "1939, and it ended about six years later in 1945."
"Very well done Rosie! Everyone give her a clap," Mrs Henderson cheered, but only Oliver and half of the girls joined in.
"Well done Rosie!" several girls celebrated in unison. Alexander and most of the other boys rolled their eyes mockingly.
"Now what about you, Emily," the teacher said, cutting the positivity, "How long ago did WW2 end? It's a little Maths question."
"Um, 472 years ago," replied the shy, intelligent Emily.
"Very good. I hope all of you took some notes, they will be valuable later on. Class dismissed!"
