It was something he hadn't anticipated, yet this wall he now encounters somehow appears familiar.

This wall.

This gap.

This Distance.

Like he is always walking a few steps behind Alvita- it finally presents itself in full shape. He was content living hidden behind a veil for as long as it lasted, but now as the curtain falls, and the cold, harsh reality hits in full force.

An impact he was not ready for.

No matter how many words fell into his head, he could not string them together in a sentence to describe this hurt. They all manifested into a deformed ugly feeling. Unfairness? Resentment? Agony? No, they only lasted for a few mortal moments, what he truly felt was loneliness. He was alone, basking under the euphoric joy the secret gave him, now he is alone with that secret, getting drenched in desolation. The only one that understands this feeling, again, is only him. He feared unrequited love because he knew he would have to give it up.

How do you do that? Give up on feelings that you have no control over?

Watching her was like watching a movie that he couldn't be a part of.

"Maybe you're overreacting?" Aiyanna suggests, after listening to Alvita's dilemma

"I considered that," Alvita nodded slowly

They sat outside looking over the volleyball team doing exercise before they could start their practice.

Aiyanna gulped, fearing as though the situation had already gone out of control. There was no point in denying Yash's feelings, what was important was that they needed to communicate. But Aiyanna knew that Yash and Alvita would rather try to ignore the elephant in the room, in order to not cause discomfort or pain to the other person. Aiyanna, in all honestly, felt frustrated- they might as well just morph into doormats...

"Maybe you should talk to Yash," Aiyanna brings an option to the table

"What would I even say? Hey, I know you (maybe) have feelings for me, but I don't feel the same way! Let's just stay friends?"

Aiyanna nods unsure, "maybe," but even she knows that wouldn't end well.

Alvita just sighs, "This is not fair, I hate feeling this way," she says to no one in particular.

Alvita ponders about the ethical outcome, what responsibility could she take? What should she do to erase this uncomfortable silence between her and Yash? As much as people turn to dramas and fiction for answers or solutions, the reality was way different...

You have dramatic moments in books where one of the characters realize how blind they were all along- but feelings don't change that easily. You have rom-coms where two characters who hate each other and have witty comebacks and banter, realize that their intense emotion wasn't hatred but was passion (love, etc.). You have dramas where the person who doesn't harbor feelings for the main character is villanized. These were just fictions, where the author held the invincible power to alter the world- the world the author created.
