What Happened In Springfield

What happened?

Catherine is standing in the woods. She's just staring into the void. She's shaking. She's scared. She was about to turn around and walk back home, till she hears something. Someone, or something, crawling towards her. She turns around and kicks the creature. It has four fingers with no nails, it's face turned upside down and a smile on it's face. It jumps on her. She screams and kicks the creature, making it fall to the ground. She runs away, farther into the woods. She doesn't care if she gets lost, she wants to live. She quietly cries while running, not looking back. She knows the creature is still running just behind her. She realises she's on the shore of a lake. She turns around and sees the creature running just behind her. She was runs on the pier and was about to jump off, till she realises something;
it's a trap. Everything that's happened in the last month is flashing before her eyes. This is it. But what exactly happened in the last month? Let's go back in time;
exactly one month ago.

Catherine is a normal 17 year old girl. She gets good grades and dresses in dark academia style clothing. She has strawberry blonde hair and curly bangs. Her eyes are blue and her skin paper white. She's best friends with the school's most popular girl; Meghan. Meghan has brunette hair and hazel eyes. She only wears white clothing. Her father is the mayor of Springfield city.
Her father does a great job at leading the city, the thing is that the city is not following his rules. Springfield is known as one of the most haunted cities in the world. There are multiple demons and spirits that are known to live there.
Many disasters happen in the city every day. Many people left the city when it started getting bad, while over 5000 people decided to stay in the city. Some people even started moving to Springfield, interested in the spirits living in the area. Most of the people moved out very soon though. Meghan's biggest dream is to move out of the city and become a model, while Catherine wants to become a singer.

Their history class is about to start. Meghan is late, again, and as per usual Catherine is waiting by their lockers. Meghan dashes in and runs towards Catherine. Meghan says; The spirits must really hate me! She laughs while trying to catch her breath. Don't joke about the ghosts Meghan, Catherine says. My mom says they're dangerous.
Yes, mine tells me to bring a cross to school everyday, Mirella whispers in her ear. Mirella is a witch, apparently. They started selling 'potions' in the school cafeteria 5 dollars each about a year ago. They have purple hair and black lipstick.
Oh stop it Mira, Mike says. Mike is a nice guy. He likes to be around people. He has dark hair and he's basically everyone's friend. Do you have experiences with the spirits, Meghan asks. I do! Mirella says. One time, when I came back from school, I went into my treehouse and I saw it. It has red eyes and blood dripping down from it's mouth. I kicked it and shoved a cross down it's throat! It got what it deserved, Mirella says. Mirella walks away while whistling. They are always so calm. Mike walks to biology class. He goes to the way back of the class and spends the whole time speaking to his best friend, Harry.
After school they all hand out. They go to the local burger place. They eat and have fun. On their way walking back home they see something.

They see red eyes, peeking from a bush. They scream and run, as they see a creature walk from behind the bush. It starts running after them.
As they are desperately trying to run away from the creature, Meghan kicks a piece of trash towards the creature. The creature slips and falls.
They get inside Mike's house and lock the door
. They tell Mike's dad what happened and he told them to stay quiet and put out all the lights. As they are sitting in his room, in darkness and all quiet, they feel scared. Is this it? Catherine peeks through the curtains, while Meghan is sobbing in the corner.

The next morning, they walk to school. They talk during recess. Why do these kinds of things keep happening in this town? Meghan asks. I find it interesting, Mirella says. We need to find out why this keeps happening here, Mike says. We should interview some people around the town! Catherine says. Especially older people, they could know more about the past of these hauntings! They all agree, it's a great idea.
They wonder who they should interview first. Maybe their parents? Or maybe grand-parents? They agree to start by interviewing their parents, then go to their neighbours, then their grand-parents.
They write down a whole plan, who interviews who. They decide they will start interviewing the next day. They walk back from home. Catherine walks in her house. She sighs. She says; why do we have to live in this stupid town? Our family has lived here for generations dear, her mother says. We can't just leave our home like that.
Catherine sighs and slowly walks into her room. She picks up her text book and starts reading. Mike walks back to his house and immediately runs into his room. He turns on his computer and starts playing games. Mirella climbs to her house through the window. They want to make 'a dramatic entering' and scare their parents by randomly appearing. Meghan is picked up by her driver. They enter to their driveway, she gets out of the car and walks to her private movie theatre. She's stressed and wants to relax while watching a great movie. She watches three movies, then eats dinner and goes to her bedroom. She sends a text to their group chat; "Tomorrow, I'll go interview my dad. Let's all meet up at my place after that and we can discuss what he said."
