AS THE child was busily collecting the flowers, the fireflies emitted bright lights as the night was sparkled with jeweled stars. An eerie aura surrounded the both of them; and it wasn't from Kokushibo himself. It wasn't Muzan's either. It was someone else.
There was an air of suspense and Kokushibo mentally muttered profanities towards himself for not being able to pinpoint the exact location of the creature, it could be anything; including animals because they usually have a fighting spirit emitting from them. Kokushibo heaved out a sigh as the grip of the hilt of his sword loosened a bit, his eyes softening at the sight of the small child just gathering a herd of flowers in her small arms.
It reminded him of the familiar rare sense of tranquility and comfort. He closed his eyes, but it snapped wide open when he could feel the aura of hunger and bloodshed aiming at the young child. Kokushibo wasted no time to behead the culprit's head with no words, just pure silence and swift movements. His eye twitched when he realized that it turned out to be an ordinary demon who was looking for prey. His shadow loomed over the demon as Kokushibo placed his slender fingers on his mouth as a way to silence the horrified demon.
How dare that demon have the nerve to touch Y/n? For some odd reason, it's making Kokushibo feel the feeling he often felt; anger. The thought of y/n being hurt by some demon– or even human, boils his heart with a fiery heat of hell, and it was very much welcomed into his heart. He sighed in relief when the aura– and the source of the aura was terminated as he plopped down on the engawa, his tall figure leaned on to one of the pillars as he closed his eyes again, listening to the soft murmurs of the crickets and the blowing wind that carried the dancing leafs.
Y/n pulled out a silk ribbon that her teacher gave a week ago during art class, she had forgotten to take it out of her kimono pocket, she tied the bunch of flowers and shyly stood up with a small blush on her cheeks, padded footsteps were heard as it stopped in front of the the tall demon, the demon opened it six eyes and it peered down at the small child.
"F-For– Fwor you, Cherry," she offered the bouquet of colorful mismatched flowers to Kokushibo.
Kokushibo felt his heart fluttered at the most adorable sight he had ever seen in his life, a child holding a handmade bouquet with a hopeful– and rather shy too– face, it was one of the most warmest thing he had ever witnessed in his years of living as a smile couldn't help but emit form his lips. A smile that adorned his features and was able to send Y/n's cheeks going haywire with a shade of red.
"Thank you.. Y/n..." he said happily before he grabbed the flower bouquet and held it close to her, cradling it in his arms so carefully, as if it was made out of glass. This was the first gfit he had ever received in his life, and it was amazing. It felt amazing. Y/n beamed at the sight of him smiling and caressing the flowers. Kokushibo then set aside the bouquet of flowers and lifted Y/n up, setting her on to his lap and clasping her small hands in his.
He played with her small fingers silently as he couldn't state what he wanted to say. He wanted to say I love you. Perhaps even as far as to say, I would do anything to see you smile, but at last, there were no words coming out of the demon's mouth. It was just silence– he wished, he just wished that he could say something, but why does it feel so hard to bring out his emotions? It's been so long he felt like this, and he desperately wants to just say–
"I love ywou, Cherry!" Y/n exclaimed brightly with bright e/c eyes shining.
She said the words he wanted to hear and Kokushibo smiled brightly, his cheeks started to spring up in pain due to how much he was smiling. He held his hand securely on her waist and lifted her up in the air, the moon shining on her figure. Y/n looked down and peered at his eyes in confusion as Kokushibo's smile faded into wonder.
A surge of comfort and tranquility gushed through his veins . There was no doubt that he felt extremely comforted just by the sight of her. Y/n only smiled before cheering happily. "Cherry!" Y/n cheered happily. "Cherry, My Kokushibwo!" Y/n raised both of her arms with merriment. Kokushibo felt tears forming in his six eyes as the moon brightly shone on Y/n's figure. He slowly lowered her down and hugged her tightly, digging his face on to her shoulder with tears slowly dropping from his eyes. Y/n patted his patch of maroon hair, not really knowing what Kokushibo is doing, perhaps, he just wanted a hug.
She wrapped her tiny arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. Squeezing him in reassurance and love. "Are you okway, Kokushibo?" Y/n asked worriedly after a while of silence. "I'm.. okay, Y/n," Kokushibo muttered. "Your Kokushibo... is alright.." Kokushibo wiped the last of his tears and smiled in a reflex.
"Okway," Y/n smiled on his shoulders as she closed her eyes, she slowly felt like darkness consuming her as a whole and she felt tiredness peaked. "Sleep well... my dearest."
The sun slowly poked out of the hills as Kokushibo closed his eyes, pressing Y/n's head on to his shoulder. A strum of a biwa was heard as Kokushibo opened his eyes to reveal that he sat on one of the tatami floors as he looked around and saw many doors. The infinity fortress.
"Hand her over, it's my turn now," Nakime commanded rather coldly as she held the biwa tightly. Kokushibo growled in annoyance. Nakime's veins popped into view.
