IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS GENRE BEFORE: WHEN YOU SEE Y/N, IT MEANS

YOUR NAME. SO... REPLACE IT WITH YOUR NAME!

"Hey Y/N." Rebecca greets as I walk through the 'Employees Only' door. I smile and place my bag onto my desk.

"Hello, how are you today Becca?" I ask politely, making conversation with my friend. We both got a job together at the pet store, both of us sharing an interest in animals.

"Great, there was a guy who called earlier today about a gecko. He said he would come pick it up later." This peaked my interest, as the geckos weren't as popular as our other pets.

"Really, which one?"

"The fairy one, our favourite." She frowned. We hadn't named the gecko, in fear we would become attached, but it didn't really work. I look down to the ground and sighed. I love it but hate it when the pets are adopted. I know they will be happier, but I will miss them. It was like Max, a Lab that was once here. We loved him so much, but one day a man came and took him, but he seemed very nice.

"Y/N? Earth to Y/N?" Rebecca waved her hand in my face, pulling me out of my thoughts. "The door bell just rang, I think it is the man from before." I nod and walk out of the back, towards the man who just entered.

"Hello, welcome to Bristol Pets. Would you like help with something?" The man turned around, and smiled. He had gorgeous brown-ginger hair, with an un-kept style. His eyes are dark blue, and his smile is contagious, pulling a smile onto my face as well. He has a nice beard, not too much, but not too little. He is beautiful.

"Hi, I was told there were geckos here, can you point me in the direction?" He asks in a soft voice.

"Yes of course, this way." I begin to walk towards the geckos, as I continue the conversation with the handsome man. "Are you the man that called earlier?"

"Yeah, that was me. My name is Alex. Alex Smith." He introduced. We arrive at the geckos and I turn around.

"Y/N. Nice to meet you Alex." I reach out my hand for him to shake. He takes it, giving me a comforting strong handshake. I smile and look down at the ground to stop myself from blushing. "Is there anything that you are looking for specifically?" He chuckles.

"Yeah, I am looking for someone to be with for a long time to come." I look up startled by his comment. He looks at my shocked face and begins to stutter. "Like gecko wise, a gecko that will live for a long time." I begin to blush madly, unable to control it. He scratches the back of his head, looking off into a different section of the store. I clear my throat and get his attention, pointing towards the geckos.

"See anythi — geckos, you like?" Alex looks towards the tank, containing about five geckos. He points to my favourite.

"It was that one I came for." He smiled. I nod and reach into the tank, grabbing the fairy coloured gecko.

"Do you need anything else; tank, water bowl, food?" He nods. I walk to the front counter and stick the gecko into a medium sized carrying tank. I place a food and water bowl in a bag, along with the animal's food. I pass them over to Alex, who quickly pays for it. He says goodbye and starts to walk away. "Wait, here is our card, just in case you need any help." I rush over to him, handing him the company card. He thanks me and walks out, leaving me standing there hoping he will call. I walk into the back again where Rebecca asks what happened. "He is beautiful." I sigh, thinking about his piercing blue eyes.

"What does he look like?"

"He has blue eyes, brown-ginger hair, and a perfect sized beard. He is tall, and his name is Alex Smith."

"He sounds snazzy!" Becca looks down at her phone, and frowns. "Well, it's time to close up." We both begin to close up, cleaning the pens and making sure all the animals have food and water. Becca grabs her bag and begins to walk towards the front door. "I am off, I have a date tonight! Make sure you lock up!"

"Bye!" I shout, making my way towards the back. I hear the front door jingle, symbolising that Rebecca has left the store, leaving me in the shop alone. I grab my bag and begin to make my way out, before I hear the company phone go off. I am going to ignore it, before I realise that it might be Alex, so I rush over to the phone pressing the green button.

"Hello, this is Bristol Pets. How may I help you?" I ask into the phone.

"Hello, is this Y/N?" I recognise the voice immediately.

"Yes it is, Alex Smith?"

"Yeah, listen, I need your help." He sounds rushed.

"What is it?" I begin to worry at his tone of voice, something must be wrong.

"I don't know where my gecko went, and I need help finding it. I have looked for about half an hour now, and I still haven't found him." Alex sounds like he is on the verge of tears, seriously worried about his pet.

"Of course, where are you?" He gives me his address as I rush to lock the doors and hop into my car. I drive to the address, coming up to a condo complex. Once I get to the condo number, I knock on the door, hearing a faint 'come in'. I let myself in, seeing a stressed Alex Smith. I walk over to him and instinctively pull him into a hug. He hugs me back and thanks me as we begin looking for the small gecko.

We have looked through all of the condo except for the living room. I begin to look around, looking in all the places that a gecko could get to. Which is a lot of places. I begin to look up at the bookshelf he has, stepping backwards to get a better view of the higher shelves as Smith looks at the lower shelves. I trip on a snug in the carpet, falling backwards. I grab Alex in an attempt to stop my fall, but only manage to bring him down with me. He lands on top of me, face centimeters from mine. We lock eyes, and I feel our faces get closer until my lips are touching his. Our lips move in a rhythmic motion, his arms supporting himself on top of me, my hands playing roughly in his hair. Once he pulls away he lets out a small chuckle, slapping a confused look on my face. He looks down at me, and smiles.

"Found him." I turn my head to the left of me and see the fairy gecko staring from beneath the couch. Sneaky little bugger.
