Chapter 10 | End of a road

During the fight Yibo was close to finally defeating and stopping his brother. But Yibo was unable to kill him. Yunxi's words had an effect on him that even he could not deny. No matter how much Yibo hated him, Yunxi was still his brother, his only family.

That was why, when Yibo forced him to the ground, he reluctantly, but eventually backed away from him after seeing that Yunxi had given up.

But Yibo had no idea what a mistake he'd made. Yunxi didn't give up, he just played it. And Yibo's vulnerable moment was immediately exploited by Yunxi and he went on the attack. Yunxi got up and grabbed Yibo's neck and bit into it. Yibo howled loudly. Yunxi then let him go, and then pushed the staggering wolf vigorously.

Yibo was lying on the ground covered in blood. He just stared as his brother approached him menacingly, baring his bloody teeth at him. Then, as Yunxi towered over his wounded brother, he was about to take another bite at Yibo; the final bite to kill Yibo. But in this Zhan stopped him, when he unexpectedly jumped on his back.

The grey wolf backed away from Yibo, confused. But when Zhan put his arm around his neck, Yunxi gave a howl as Zhan's bracelet burned hard across his throat. In moments, the grey wolf had thrown Zhan off himself. Zhan's bracelet fell off his wrist when he hit the ground.

Yunxi glared angrily at Zhan, but did not attack him. However, when Yunxi heard his brother trying to get up, his eyes went back to Yibo. Yunxi grunted, but before he could move towards Yibo, Zhan shouted at him. Yunxi looked at Zhan again.

"Hey! You ugly beast!" - said Zhan, then quickly stood up. - "You want me so much, huh? ... Then come and get me first!"

Zhan then took off running to gain time for Yibo and to save him from death. He had an idea, and he hoped it would work. Either way, Zhan knew for sure that he was not about to give his life or Yibo's to Yunxi without a fight.

Zhan did not stop. He ran to keep Yunxi as far away from Yibo as possible. But while he was thinking about it, he didn't notice that the threat to Yibo had become his own, or where he was going.

But once Zhan realised this, it was at the last moment, barely one step away from his own death. Because of the dense fog, he couldn't see the warning large boulders, and he ran past them and almost fell off the cliff.

Zhan stood there, terrified and frozen, for a few moments before carefully stepping back from the edge.

"Oh, my God, .. oh, my God, ..... that was too close ..." said Zhan, gasping for breath.

"You're right." suddenly said Yunxi , standing behind Zhan.

Zhan wanted to turn around, but Yunxi behind him was faster and immediately wrapped his arm around Zhan's neck.

Zhan tried to struggle but the grip was tighter on him. Then he felt Yunxi leaning towards his ear.

"You said, .. and I did. I got you. And now..." Yunxi paused long enough to look at Zhan's neck. He was shocked to see that his bite was gone.

"What is it? Did you expect me to still wear your dirty mark on my neck?" asked Zhan in disgust.

"Pretty much. ... But at least, this now explains why you didn't come back to me when I called you. My first bite may not have been strong enough, but now I'm going to give you one that will bond you to me forever."

"I would rather die!" declared Zhan firmly.

"Don't wish for something I can give you right now." Yunxi said angrily.

"You'd better remember that, because neither I, nor Yibo's power will be yours."

"You are very wrong. You are already mine. You are in my arms, as you asked, .. and my brother has lost. So, accept it ... I have won, and you are my prize. .. And, now it's time to seal it." said Yunxi as he pulled his fangs across Zhan's neck.

"Let him go!! Now!!" said an angry alpha loudly. Zhan and Yunxi looked at Yibo at the same time after they turned around.

"Brother, .. you still won't give up, huh?"

"Not as long as you are endangering Zhan. Now let him go!!!" ordered Yibo, now with azure eyes.

"Never!! .. He's mine. I fought for him and won him! You took him from me, but now I've taken him back, and I'm not letting him go..." Yunxi said angrily.

After that, Yunxi wanted to mark Zhan this time, leaving an everlasting mark on him.

"NOOOOO!!!" yelled Yibo at him.

Enraged, Yibo immediately leapt at his brother in his wolf form to stop him.

As Yibo's transformation took him by surprise, Yunxi froze for a moment. But then Zhan quickly tore his arms off himself, then jumped out of Yibo's way and fell to the ground. As soon as Zhan was free, the wolf caught Yunxi's shoulder and they fell backwards, then off the edge of the cliff.

Zhan looked behind him in fear. Both Yunxi and Yibo were gone. His shaky legs made him turn around slowly and walk to the edge of the precipice. He knelt down and stared into the abyss, but the mist obscured the bottom.

"Yibo!!! ... Yibo!!!" cried Zhan in desperation.

At first he thought Yibo had fallen too, but then he finally heard a whimpering sound. Zhan leaned forward carefully, and that's when he saw that Yibo had difficulty, but he was clinging to the rock wall and trying to climb up. Zhan didn't hesitate, immediately lowering one hand as far as he could.

"Yibo, .. come on, hold my hand!"

"No, .. because then we'll both fall!" protested Yibo.

"Trust me, I can keep you. Just hold my hand!! ... Please, Yibo!!"

After some hesitation, but Yibo finally grabbed Zhan's hand and he immediately pulled Yibo up.

After they both lay exhausted on the ground, Zhan turned his head towards Yibo. It was then that Zhan noticed that Yibo's neck was still covered with deep wounds. As Zhan sat up, he saw that not only Yibo's neck but also his body was covered with bites and scratches.

"If you have self-healing powers, why aren't they working now?" - asked Zhan. - "What happened to you?"

Zhan looked puzzled at the unconscious Yibo.

But Yibo, instead of answering, just turned to the side until he coughed up blood.

"Yibo!!! ... Yibo, tell me, what happened to you? Or how can I help you? ... Yibo!!"

But Yibo just stopped coughing, then closed his eyes again.

Zhan quickly tore off the sleeves of his cloth and tried to stop the bleeding on Yibo's neck. But when Zhan raised one of Yibo's hands, a small object fell out of his fist. Zhan was surprised to see that it was his bracelet. He quickly grabbed it and put it away, away from Yibo.

Then, as if Yibo's body had been freed from its limitation, the self-healing process began immediately. His deep wounds healed within minutes.

Although the injuries had disappeared, it was a long time before Yibo opened his eyes due to exhaustion. The first thing he saw was Zhan looking at him with teary eyes and a soft, relieved smile.
