Although Doyoung didn't like the idea of bunking school at first, he soon realized what he would have missed if Jeongwoo didn't convince him to bunk.
They ate street food first of all. Doyoung surely hesitated a bit since he already had his breakfast. But it was certain that all the fun would be ruined if he kept thinking about these little things. So he decided not to care about anything and just enjoying the day with someone he likes very much.
After walking and goofing around for a while, they decided to go cycling.
The two of them raced. Even if Doyoung was pretty fast for a few minutes, he soon became all drained resulting the younger to get ahead of him. But tiredness hit him so much that the elder couldn't use to strength of his legs anymore to paddle the bicycle.“We can just ride together.” This sentence coming out from Jeongwoo's mouth made the both of them weak.
Doyoung hopped on behind Jeongwoo. Though it wasn't necessary to hold onto the rider of a bicycle, Jeongwoo insisted that the shorter boy might fall off.
The flower fields and lakes were beautiful, but the boys solely focused on the warmth they felt from the other's body. Doyoung was holding onto Jeongwoo's fine waist lightly, but it gave butterflies to the latter. His heart was beating fast while his stomach felt weird.
After cycling, they decided to go to a gaming cafe.
They sat side by side and started gaming with the food they wanted to have of course. This time Doyoung didn't even hesitate to eat something because of the tiredness he experienced while cycling.
Jeongwoo never really got to see this competitive side of Doyoung before. He was trying heart and soul to win. And so, Jeongwoo willingly lost the game even when he was almost sure of winning.
“Yah! Why did you just make me win??” Doyoung complained. “What do you mean? You won because you played well." The younger stated. “It's not fair, you intentionally lost.” Doyoung replied back and puffed his round cheeks. Jeongwoo had a hard time resisting to kiss that soft fluffy skin.
After staying there for some hours, they finally got out from that gaming cafe.
“Honestly gaming was extra fun today.” Doyoung stated as they were walking slowly. “All thanks to me right?” Jeongwoo asked cheekily. The elder rolled his eyes in a playful manner and said, “Can you send me the selfie we took while cycling?” For a moment Jeongwoo's heart skipped a beat, was Doyoung gonna post it in his social? He felt special suddenly but still asked, “Why?”“Oh I'm gonna send it to Ruto to show how he is missing out.” Doyoung replied casually.
The younger felt broken inside. It was just too much for him to take in. All he wanted was some quality time with that one boy whom he likes. But the latter was too obsessed with Haruto.
“I can send it to him too you know.” Jeongwoo spoke, coldness evident in his voice. But at the same he sounded hurt. Doyoung was too naive to notice that tone. So he casually shrugged, “Yeah sure, send it in the group chat. I wanna see his reaction too.” Jeongwoo obliged silently.
Just a while later a reply came in the group chat.
Y'all are abandoning me to get some quality time together? Sure have fun with each other, lovebirds ;)
Jeongwoo replied it with a skull emoji and turned his phone off.
Doyoung was already shy from the ‘lovebird' word directed towards him and Jeongwoo. So he quickly changed the topic by simply asking, “What should we do now, Woo?” His question made the latter to realize that Doyoung was actually having fun with him. So shaking the heavy feeling he felt about Haruto, he decided to just focus on Doyoung instead.
“You tell me, my head is out of options already.” He replied and swung an arm around the shorter one's shoulder.
“Will you go to a park with me? I always wanted to ride the swings and build a sandcastle with someone close to me.” A soft smile spread across Jeongwoo's face.
He soon intertwined his hand with Doyoung’s flowery one and replied, “Let's go.”
They went to a nearby a park and did everything Doyoung wanted to try again but as a teenager. They got on slide, swings, see-saws like when they were children.
And the most precious memory would be the part where they built a sandcastle in that small space of that park. Jeongwoo was overwhelmed seeing Doyoung enjoying these simple things with a magnificent smile on his face.
It was already afternoon, so Jeongwoo spoke, “I think we should head home now, Doyoungie.” The said boy took a look at his watch and nodded.
They simply walked side by side with each other in a slow and steady pace. The sun was almost setting down and their hands brushed against each other's one a few times. Doyoung was smiling shyly to himself when the younger softly took his hand in his own.“I really liked spending time today with you.” Jeongwoo said.
“Me too.” The elder mumbled in a soft voice. “No Doyoungie really. I always feel so good whenever I'm with you, I just love to see that pretty smile of yours.” Jeongwoo confessed. Doyoung felt a spark in his body and he was expecting more.
“I'm glad that you feel this way.”
“I wanna thank you for trusting me like this, you really are someone special to me.”
“Like?” Doyoung asked. He remembered what Haruto told him a few days ago.
“He likes you back Doyoung-ah ! He is just scared you might reject him.”
“But I already dropped so many hints, why wouldn't he realize that I like him??”
“He isn't sure. Just give him some time, I'm sure he will express his feelings to you one day. Just hold o a little more. It'll be worth it!”
All these times, Haruto was helping him about his feelings for Jeongwoo. Now that the wolf-looking boy expressing his feelings, will be confess? Doyoung waited weeks after weeks for just Jeongwoo to say those three words, those eight letters. Was it all gonna be worth it? At this very moment, will he be able to kiss those delicate lips of Jeongwoo?
Doyoung was almost sure by the whole atmosphere that it was time. Jeongwoo would surely confess.
“A great friend.” Jeongwoo replied and smiled with gloom written all over his face.
Doyoung's heart broke. So he was just a ‘great friend' to the boy he was crushing on after their very first interaction.
Doyoung slightly nodded his head. In a few seconds, he pulled his hand away from Jeongwoo’s grip in a gentle manner and kept looking at his feet the whole time before they parted their paths.
Doyoung practically ran to his house after Jeongwoo was out of sight. The pain was suffocating. He took out his phone the very moment he closed the main entrance of his home.
He dialled that one number he would call every time something happened with Jeongwoo. As the call was received from the other side, Doyoung broke down in tears.“Ruto he sees me just as a friend..”
