High School Romance

Zoe, a blonde-haired girl with pink streaks and blue tips, followed her friend, Lily White, a brown-haired girl who wore her hair in a braid, and brown eyes, down a freshmen girl locker hall at their school in New York City during their 10-minute locker, snack, and bathroom break. It was the beginning of the school year, and some teachers' classrooms had moved locations. Zoe was curious about where Lily's math classroom was, so she showed her. Zoe reached for the door handle, opened it, and saw something that broke her heart. William, Zoe's crush, was kissing Penelope Taylor, A blonde-haired girl who wore her hair in a ponytail, with light blue eyes. Penelope was one of Zoe's worst enemies. Penelope was one of those mean girls who bullied all the girls, but around the boys, she put on a show to impress them. Penelope and Zoe both liked William but had different ways of showing it. Penelope did stuff to get William to fall for her, Zoe on the other hand, was so afraid of getting heartbroken that she acted very shy around him, so shy that William thought Zoe hated him. Penelope's way had worked because she and William were making out in Mrs. Allen's, Lily's Algebra 2 teacher's abandoned classroom. Zoe softly closed the door before Penelope and William noticed. Zoe sped up until Lily put a hand on her shoulder that stopped her in her tracks. 

"Are you ok?" Lily asked softly and Zoe just shrugged and continued walking quickly to the bathroom where she could cry in a stall in peace. For the rest of the break, Zoe just spent her time crying her eyes out in the bathroom. When the warning bell, which let all students and teachers know they had five minutes left before their next class, rang, Zoe left her stall, put makeup on until it didn't look like she'd been crying, and went to her 4th-period geometry class.

At lunch later that day Lily and Zoe told their other friends, Luna Wilson, a girl who wore her brown with blue streaks hair down, had her nails painted dark blue with silver stars on them, and Camille Lopez, a blonde-haired girl with blue square glasses.

"Are you ok? You look sad," Camille asked.

"She saw William and Penelope making out in Mrs. Allen's room," Luna answered her. No one knew how Luna knew this. She would never spy or eavesdrop, but what other way was there for her to know these things?

"Oh, I'm sorry," Camille said quietly.

Later that day during their 6th-period history class, Penelope was bragging about how she was dating William. A lot of girls at their school liked him and Penelope knew it. She liked to tease and bully Zoe for it. Zoe wanted to tell Penelope to shut up so badly, but she held her tongue. Camille, however, asked her, "And exactly how much did you have to pay him to go along with it?"

"She didn't have to pay me anything," William announced walking into the classroom. "We're dating because I like her, and she likes me! I'd never date a girl, or lie about, dating a girl who I'm either not, or don't like. I love Penelope!" He exclaimed.

A few days later, Zoe was still upset about William and Penelope dating. Zoe went to her locker during the break and found a note in her locker from Henry, a brown-haired boy with short hair, and brown eyes that Zoe kind of liked. The note said,

"Meet me outside, in the courtyard, during the break. Come alone.

- Henry"

So, Zoe went downstairs and outside to the courtyard to meet Henry. When she got outside, Henry was already there.

"Hey," Henry greeted Zoe shyly, which was unusual for him. Henry wasn't shy, Henry was the outgoing type of person.

"Hey, Henry. So, uh, did you need something?"
