The werewolves in this story are different from the other stories. I kinda made up some stuff along the way, so please bear with me and hope you read this part so that you would understand what's happening in the characters' lives. 💜
Modern Day Werewolves
The werewolf community in Seoul lives harmoniously with humans. They made a pact with humans and the two vowed never to hurt any members of either side. They are treated equally, following the laws and provisions of both human and werewolf worlds.
While living in this modern age, there are still werewolf families who are quite traditional. And by traditional I mean Alpha and Beta families feeling superior over other classes, especially over Omegas.
I. MATES
Destined or fated mates still exist, but not that big of a deal anymore. Everyone is free to love and marry whoever they wish to. If a werewolf ends up meeting his / her destined mate, they have the liberty to do any of the following AS LONG AS THEY REMAIN UNMARKED:
1) get a divorce and marry destined mate (as long as the two parties agree...much like in the human world);
2) so that they can stay with their current partners, they need to reject their mates and go through the unmating ritual and have the mate symbol / bond disappear (a rather painful process for both the werewolf and his / her wolf);
3) the destined mate can challenge his/her mate's partner in the event that the current mate does not want to let go of their partners even if the latter wants to be with his / her destined mate.
The last option is the least favorable one as it can lead to one of the werewolves getting killed in the challenge.
Finding one's destined mate is quite difficult as well. A destined mate shares a unique symbol and it comes out on the junction of one's neck and collarbone when the werewolf turns 18. Nobody else can see the mark but the owner and his / her fated mate. That is the only way werewolves find out who their destined mate is. They can only smell, sense and mind link their mate once they mark each other.
II. MARKING
Marking another wolf is an unbreakable bond...a very serious, life-long commitment. The mark disappears when the one who did the marking dies. Other than that, a werewolf is bound to the one who marked him / her for life. If a werewolf marks someone without their consent, it is considered a crime and the perpetrator is sentenced to death.
III. HAVING PUPS
To have offsprings, you have to be an:
1) Omega : male or female can bear a pup even if partner is not destined mate
2) Alpha or Beta Female - but only if the partner is her destined Alpha / Beta mate
IV. WEREWOLF CLASSIFICATIONS
* Alpha as the highest breed. Strongest of all breeds.
Majority are from the rich class.
- Most supreme among the alpha class are the
true blood alphas (a child born from two
alpha DESTINED mates. Blessed by super
strength and a special power (can be
psychic or physical power; can control one
or more elements).
- A child born from two alpha parents
that are not destined mates is not
considered a blood alpha, but is still
physically stronger than a normal alpha.
- Has dark black eye; red eyes when wolf is
triggered or in control.
- Allowed breed partners: Alpha, Beta,
Omega. However, true bloods can only mate with fellow true bloods, whether the latter be
an Alpha, Beta or Omega.
* Beta as the second strongest breed in the werewolf society.
- They are strong but not as strong as Alphas;
stronger than most Omegas. Like Alphas,
there are true blood Betas. They are also
given powers by the Moongoddess and able
to control one or two elements.
- Has green eyes
- Allowed breed partners: Alpha, Beta,
Omega. However, true blood Betas can only
mate with fellow true bloods, whether the
latter be an Alpha, Beta or Omega.
* Omega as the least strongest of the three classes.
- They are said to be the weakest, yet the only
one that can bear a child even if partner ia
not destined mate. Like Alphas and Betas,
there are true blood Omegas. They may or
may not be blessed with powers or able to
control at least one element.
- Has blue eyes
- Allowed breed partners: Alpha, Beta and
Omega — though some frown upon Omega
couples as this was not allowed in the past.
The old society did not like the idea of
propagating "weak" werewolves since two
omega couples will surely bear an omega
child, unlike Alpha-Omega / Beta-Omega
combination where there is still a possibility
of having an Alpha or Beta child.
