Bucky runs a hand through his hair, closing his eyes. "Jesus Christ, why doesn't this surprise me in the least." He goes over to the trunk of the tree, mentally preparing himself to catch you if you fell. "What's the plan here, doll? Trying to give me a heart attack?"

You don't look down, hooking the cable's hook onto a tall branch. "No, probably not. You trust me, right?"

Bucky continues to look nervous. “I just don’t know about your tree climbing skills, that’s all.”

You roll your eyes, climbing down a few branches once the cable is hooked. “I’m fine, you just need to-”

You stop as the branch you step on cracks and falls, but you grab onto another one overhead. “Never mind. I guess I sort of understand your fear.”

Bucky’s eyes widen. “Jesus Christ, Y/n. Hold on, I’ll-” He goes closer to the tree.

“No!” You gasp. “Just, go back to where you were. How’s your catching skills?”

Bucky begins pleading with you. “No, please, Y/n, please don’t do what I think you’re going to do-”

You let go of the branch.

“Y/N!” Bucky shouts, drawing the attention of the other guys, who run over in time to see you fall through the tree’s branches, into Bucky’s arms.

“Good catch!” You smile shakily up at Bucky.

He sets you on your feet, grabbing your shoulders and checking you over. “Are you ok? Jesus Christ, what were you thinking? No, Christ, you weren’t thinking. You could have died! What if I didn’t catch you? I-”

You put your hand on his arm, stopping him. You look him in the eyes, and he calms down slightly. “Breathe, Buck. Calm down. I’m fine, ok? I trusted you would catch me, and you did. Ok?”

Steve puts a hand on Bucky’s shoulder as well. “Are you ok? Both of you?”

You nod, and Bucky exhales deeply. “I guess so. Just please, promise you’ll never do that again.”

You nod, wrapping him in a gentle hug. “I promise. Now, can we finish getting this set up? We still have lots of time, but I don’t want to cut it too close.”

     Bucky nods. “Alright. Let’s go.”

You nod, grabbing the other end of the cable. “Steve, do you have your shield?”

     He nods. “Always. Why?”

You smile. “Can I borrow it?”

He reaches to his back, grabbing the shield and handing it to you. “What do you need it for?”

You walk to the edge of the cliff, fastening the edge of the cable to the straps of the shield. “This is made of vibranium, correct? It can withstand a lot of force and weight?”

“Yes, but what do you need it for? Y/n?”

With one last check to secure the cable, you throw the shield like a frisbee off the cliff. “Y/n!” The guys stare at you in shock, but you don’t answer, still staring at the shield soaring through the air.

“Hold on, give it a second… YES!” You cheer, as the shield hits the cliff, burying it’s side in the cliff above the tracks, stretching the cable tight from the tree to the opposite side.

Bucky and Rowan smile. Rowan laughs. “Well, that was quite the plan.”

Steve gives a sigh of relief. “God, Y/n, you had me worried for a minute.”

You smirk, digging around in your backpack, grabbing ropes. “Well, I have lots of plans, and about 86% of them work, most of the time.” You begin fastening the ropes on the cable. “This one should be within that 86%.”

Bucky nods. “Good enough statistics for us."

D.J grins. "Come on, let’s get this show on the road.”

You nod, pulling out harnesses from your bag. "These are missing multiple pieces, so you can't strap yourself in, you guys'll just have to hang on."

Bucky comes over to you, helping you hook the harnesses on the cable. "Doll, are you-"

"I swear to God, if you ask me if I'm sure one more time..."

He smiles. "I know, I'm sorry."

You're about to say something when you hear the faint whistle of a train. The train.
