Katie arrived home around ten minutes later, she put her bag down next to the stairs and went into the kitchen for a drink. She opened the fridge and looked for the carton of orange juice she left there this morning. All that was in there were bottles upon bottles of wine, obviously put there by her mum. Katie referred to her mum as the devil, she could hardly tell the difference between them, in fact the devil would have been a better parent than her mum.

She flew back into reality realising she'd been stood there doing nothing for minutes. She closed the fridge door and walked over to the living room door to see if her mum was in her usual place, sleeping on the sofa. Of course, she was drinking tons of wine until she was almost on the floor and her dad, surrounded by cans of beer. That's how they would spend their day, leaving Katie to cook and clean leaving her hardly any time to do homework, write in her diary and more importantly feed her hamster, Bear.

She called it bear because he had a dark chocolate coloured fur with a white patch on its belly, sort of in the shape of a bear. Bear was basically the only friend she had, although it sounds weird he was always loveable and sweet and cheered her up when she was down.

She took a breath before opening the door even wider and taking a step into the room, when her father jumped up and out of no where started screaming and shouting. Her mother did the same but this tim started throwing empty beer cans at her.

"GET OUT, IM GONNA KILL YOU"her father shouted.

He stood up, stumbling towards her and slipping on a patch of spilt wine and smashing his head on the corner of the sofa.

"I HATE YOU, THIS IS ALL YOURE FAULT"her mother screamed before falling on the floor and crawling towards he dad.

Katie hesitated for a second then slammed the door and ran up the stairs, she tripped up on one of the stairs but picked her self up again, now with tears running down her face onto her shirt. She closed her door and tossed herself onto the bed almost falling off the other side. She placed her head on her pillow and quietly sobbed into it, she didn't even think to write in her diary, it wouldn't help this time, nothing would.

Her parents had done things like this before, but it's never been as bad as it has today. They've said many times that there going to but he up for adoption, but now she doesn't think they would hesitate to throw her out onto the streets. She tried to clear her mind and wipe away her tears trying to be strong, she remembered bear, but she was in a bad state to even get up and open the cage. With that she sat there for hours until finally drifting off into a deep sleep.,
