"this better be good, addie. i was having
the best dream"

"um, well...i almost kissed dylan."

and just like that, sadie was more than wide awake. in seconds, the woman had shot up in her bed and flicked her bedside light on as she finally opens her eyes fully to watch her friend pacing; or more like watch her ceiling move rapidly across the screen.

"i'm sorry, what?! how did that- why almost?"

addelyn face finally comes into view, now filling up the entirety of sadie's screen.

"because i fucking chickened out!"

"hold on, i thought you said you
'didn't like' dylan like that."

addelyn would smack the sly smirk off her best friends face if she could right now. one thing about sadie is that she will always, always, brag and say 'i told you so' when she's right about something.

"yeah, yeah. save your victory speech
and your i told you so's for someone who
cares, please."

"alright, talk me through it.
what did you do?"

and so, addelyn explained to her their whole night. from the moment she texted him up until when she ran away from him and locked herself back in her room to call her.

"okay, honestly, it's not that bad."

"it's fucking horrible, sadie! i can't fall in
love with him. "

"okay, why not?"

"because, i have a job to do. we signed
contracts, i worked too hard for this just
to lose it over some guy."

"addie, why do you always have to think
about the worst case scenarios?"

"because then i won't get disappointed. i'm
being practical and realistic."

sadie lets out a loud huff, her shoulder falling into a slump. she loved addelyn so much, loved her as a sister, but she was always too hard on herself. sometimes sadie wished she could just smack some sense into her, literally.

for her whole life, addelyn has put off so much for the sake of other people and has almost always put herself second to everyone else. it pained her best friend to see her doing it again over something that she knows would make her happy.

"so what's the plan then? because you
can't ignore this until it goes away, he's
staying in your backyard for fucks sake."

"i think i actually can ignore it till it goes
away. he literally leaves in a few days."

"yeah because we're not flying back
to LA too, right? and you don't star in the
same show where you're both romantic
leads who have to kiss almost everyday.
great plan, addie. you're a true mastermind."

"okay so maybe i haven't thought this through."

"yeah, no shit."

"i can't tell him sadie. there's too much
on the line."

"addelyn, he moved on you. what are
you so afraid of?"

"we were both wine drunk! i think i still am,
slightly. it didn't mean anything."

"you always say that, but-"

"because it's true! its happened before,
we've kissed and we've forgotten about it.
why is this time any different?"

"for starters, you're both way more aware
and will remember it this time around."

addelyn doesn't speak for a minute, taking her friends words in slowly. she knew she was right, she couldn't ignore it this time. but addelyn has never been one for confrontation, no matter what shape or form it came in.

"i can't lose him, sadie."

"you can't know that, addie! bottling
up your feelings like this isn't going to
help you either. can't you see you're
only making this harder on yourself?"

"but it's making it easier on everyone else.
and for future me, maybe."

"and what about dylan? what about
his feelings, addie?"

"if dylan wants to talk about his feelings,
nothings stopping him. but he hasn't."

"maybe it's because you keep running
away from him!"

"i'm sorry i woke you up. thanks sade."

"addie, wait-"

call ended.

i should be getting back to more frequent updates now that it's summer, fingers crossed i actually stick to it and don't hit writers block again
