The Emperors Lady

An afternoon tea

"Eleanor" I call out. Eleanor sits in front of me with her tea. "How's father?" She asks "as usual, how's mother?" I ask in return. She goes quiet for a moment. "Mother is sick" I'm a little shocked by this, mother has always been a very healthy woman "she never told me" I respond. Eleanor pauses. "She never wanted you to know, you know how she is" it was true ,Eleanor was right if mother got sick or was in any sort of pain she would never complain, but our father.. he's truly the opposite. There is a moment of silence between us. I decide to break the silence "Father is sorry about what happens" I say "I bet he is" she says. Eleanor usually isn't like this.

"How have you been?" I ask. "How do you think I've been?" She responds. Eleanor was usually never this cold especially towards me. "Have you visited his grave recently?" I ask curiously. "Everyday" she replies. I mean it makes complete sense he was her everything.

"I want to visit mother" I demand. "We can go after we're both done our tea" I guess I could wait. There's more silence. "Father wants me to get married" I admit. Eleanor rolls her eyes. She can really piss me off sometimes. "So then get married it isn't that hard" she says with attitude. I get he recently died but that's not a reason to be upset and show attitude to her sister, the one who assisted her through it all. "You know father gives us the freedom to marry who we please and I've never fell for anyone in the 22 years of my existence" I exclaim. "Just let father chose someone for you before he kills someone you love" she says. Ouch.

I guess she isn't entirely wrong. "We should visit his grave after we visit mother" I say standing up. "Why are you up?" "We're both done now let's go" I demand grabbing my cup and taking one final sip. "Very well then" Eleanor says standing up.
