1864.
A winter storm has gripped the land. Union soldier Samuel Geigher is in the midst of the worst battle he has encountered yet. The Tennessee ground he stands on is frozen over. New snow begins to fall on his already numb face. Rifle blasts boom all around him as the confederacy moves closer.
"It's like lambs to a slaughter! Haha!!"
Samuel turns his head to see who this comment came from. "I much prefer bacon, Johnathon." But, he knew he was right, they all knew they were going to win this one. The rebel army didn't stand a chance here.
Suddenly a sharp pain that soon turns to a feeling of fire spreading through his body hits his core. He looks down and sees blood start pouring through his uniform. Realization hits.
"I've been shot!"
Samuel hits his knees and darkness takes over. It is night time before he slowly begins to regain consciousness. Before his eyes open he can hear a sound of slurping and gurgling. He lifts his head and looks around. Bodies scatter the ice and snow coated field. His eyes land on a man bent over one of the corpses.
"H-h-help me...p-please..."
The man turns his head, and before Samuel can utter another word, is standing over him. His eyes are as black as the night sky. His ivory hair hangs long and limp down his back. As he starts to smile the moon glistens off of two sharp fangs.
"Help you, you say. Death is already at your door. And yet you still think you can be saved?"
The man looks at Samuel, amused by the thought of this. Samuel then gasps for air, then he pleads again.
"Help..."
The man laughs, the sound ripping through the air and leaving a silence behind it full of pure evil.
"I will help you. Yet it shall not be to help you live, but yet to die. Then awaken, you shall, but you will not be alive. However, you will walk an eternal death, as I. Do you still wish my help?"
Afraid of the lingering death that most definitely awaits him if he refuses this sinister man's help, Samuel nods the best he can. Within the blink of an eye the man's fangs rips into his neck, sending shock waves of searing pain through his entire body. The world then fades once more into total darkness.
