Unknown POV
I never should of trusted 2 strange men. Now I am stuck searching for 2 strange men in a village full of angry, deceitful people that would rob each other blind if they had the chance.
Letting out a loud sign it made my way further into town, following the fresh footprints they had left the soft earth. "This will be a long night if I don't find those two before someone else does.." I mutter to myself as I enter through the stone arch way that lead to the inside of the town. There was no official name for this town but those who come here know it simply as Ditch.
It was only a few steps into Ditch that the stench hit me. the stench of too many bodies crammed in to small a place and to top it off the never ending smell of urine and shit that was ever present.
Pulling my cowl deeper over my head and my scarf up to cover the lower half of my face I continued forward. To my relief it was not long till I found Who I was looking for, Just not in the way I wanted to find them.
Almost on Que the larger of the two man cam sailing out of the dimly lit tavern and crashed into the stalls on the other side.
POV
We watched the small Stranger pull aside the curtain and enter the small home. I could not explain the feeling I had but as soon as they left my company there was a eerie gap, almost like a void that needed to be filled.
The murmur of voices inside felt like it went on forever. Before I knew it I was walking towards the stone archway that looked to be the entrance to the town itself. It felt as if I had been walking in a daze as i came to a large looking building with a sign I hoped meant food. It was then that the foul smell hit me, the smell of piss and shit assaulted my nose. I looked around , but could not see Thaion next to me. I could feel his presence at a near by stall.
With a shrug I walked up to the framed doorway and pushed, allowing entrance to the establishment. As I entered it took a few moments for my eyes to adjust.
It was a dark, Smokey place with round tables and stools that were surrounded by men, who appeared to be the source of the smell . It took all i had to not visibly gag and retch. Eyes watering I started forward, careful to make sure the cowl of my hood was covering my face. Walking forward I made my way to the bar and took a seat on one of the available stools at the end of the bar.
"What can i get cha, Stranger?." The man behind the bar inquired. His voice coming out gruff, quiet and ominous. "Ale if possible ?.". My request met with Stoney silence as the man poured my drink.
"Your drink.... Stranger" the bar keep said. However the tone of voice left nothing but a pit of worry to ball in my stomach. I nodded my thanks, raising the liquid to my lips. It was not the worst ale I had tasted but it sure was up there.
The now eerie silence echoed through and place and the slow scraping of chairs and the gentle murmur of voices cascaded trough the dark. And as slowly as I could my hand touched the bow slung under my cloak. I knew there was no way i was going to be able to draw the weapon, but if needed it would make a great staff.
It was not long before the hairs on my arms stood up straight, seconds later i felt myself silimg through the air and colliding with what appeared to be a hard wooden frame, possible a stall. It was here the familiar smell i had come to know hit me. The stranger had come to find us.
