The next day came quickly – quicker than Vasilisa would have preferred. It was no lie that she'd desired to meet the gang for a long time now. But now that she was about to get to know them, all emotions came at once and she was drowning in them. She was pacing around her room almost all morning, expecting the clock to strike one. The meeting was planned to happen in the afternoon because Vasilisa knew that the market was the busiest around that time. It would be crowded and people would pay no attention to her, a simple girl, among that chaos.

As always, she wore no fancy dress so that she wouldn't draw unwanted attention to herself. She was dressed simply and if she were to be honest, she was looking forward to getting lost in the crowd of normal people again. It was like a game for her. Hide and seek and she had been winning.

But although she had done this so many times that she couldn't even count it, this was different. She took several deep breaths to calm her racing heart down.

She was going to do it. There was no stepping back now.

When Vasilisa finally sneaked out through the secret corridor in her room, she immediately headed toward the bridge where, hopefully, the mysterious man was waiting for her. She didn't even know his name. But she was sure she would be able to recognize him in a crowd of a thousand people because the memory of him was still fresh in her head.

She finally reached her goal. Vasilisa carefully looked around, not too suspiciously. If anyone asked her, she'd say that she was waiting for her husband.

"I believe you're waiting for me," a new voice sounded behind her and she turned around. He had also changed his clothes from yesterday and now he was wearing a simple black warm coat with a black hat on his head.

"Yes," she confirmed. "Thank you for coming."

"I would never miss it."

"Would you like to walk around?" she asked him, and he gladly accepted the offer. Before they walked away, they let a carriage go beside them and only then did they head off the bridge.

Their steps were slow, they weren't hurrying anywhere. For a few seconds they also remained in silence, enjoying the weather until Vasilisa decided to speak up.

"I haven't caught your name."

"Alex. And yours?"

At first, Vasilisa couldn't decide which of her names she should use. Either Vasilisa or Svetlana. He must remember that she had always signed as a mysterious S in her letters.
