"It's a death but, why are they having this big event?" Jennie asked to see a big crowd.It was not only the locals but, it was also so many foreign tourists there. Some of the tourists were taking pictures while some of just admiring all the processing.
It was the third day for them to be on The Island of God. Jennie and Jisoo now were on the biggest event that they truly amazed, Ngaben. It was actually a death ceremony but, it was held so grand and big. The death body was on a big carriage and brought by a lot of people then in the end the dead body burnt along with their precious belongings. The occasion itself always be the tourist magnet, so many tourists, locals and the family gathered around and made a huge crowd.
On their second day there, they mostly watched the cultural heritage of that island of God. They went to Kuta Carnival, an annual occasion that was held once a year. There were so many food stalls, many shows, so many females with their national dress and mountain of fruits on their heads walked to the beach. The main show was when they watched a breath-taking Sunset Kecak Dance, a dance with a lot of man surrounding the female dancer with the monster called barong. The male dancers sat on a big circle in about three to four rows, the local said when the dance getting Hyunper, the male dancers will be possessed by the spirits.
"I once read, that they're doing this to accelerate the soul to get to the other world. Because death is not an end, it's just the beginning for the eternal life. So they have to escort the dead one with grateful. "Jisoo explained her. There was a pause and a heavy sigh before he continue with his words,
"So Jen.." He continued while still looking to the crowd who brought the carriage of the dead body on their shoulder. Jennie looked to him. "Death only a beginning for an eternal us." He said to her and gripped her hand. Jennie looked to him with a mix of feelings. It was a nice line actually but, it still sounds bitter for her.
"When I'm die, don't cry or sad Jen.. Because I only wait for you on the eternal life." He continued to her.
"Don't say that!" She released her hand and stared at him intensely.
"Why? It is a certain thing.. We won't always be in this world." He looked to her eyes and caressed her cheek. "Promise me you won't sad and cry so much when I'm gone."
"Jis.." Her heart stabbed with a sharp glass to hear everything he said.
"Just like those people, they the dead with grateful because they believe the dead actually having a better life, an eternal life." He said and gave eyes sign to the crowd who looked prayed to the dead before they burnt it along with the big carriage.
"Please don't talk about this anymore." She begged.
"No, promise me first."
Jennie took a Hyup breath. He was only say the word die but, it was enough to hurt her. She was so devastated and hopeless when he was missing back then. Now, he talked about die... how should she response, she was speechless.
"Promise me.. Promise me.." He begged and stomped like a little boy with a cute begging expression. Jennie was so surprised with his childish attitude but, then she smiled a little to see dork him, he surely knew how to change her mood. She took a hyup breath.
"I will..try.."She said the best words she could and matched with her feelings.
"Then, it's a promise!" He offered his pinky finger.
"Yaaaah..we are not teenagers to do pinky promise."
"But, I am a little boy inside." He said proudly.
"Oh my God.." She shook her head, she really couldn't resist his childish boyfriend. "Okay.." Jennie took his finger and do a pinky promise. Jisoo then steal a peck on her lips.
