HOW IT ALL STARTED

PRESENT DAY

"Ariella, wake up sweetie, we're here" A dark haired woman said to the girl in the back seat. The seventeen year old slowly opened her eyes sitting up in her seat. She looked out the tinted window as her car slowly pulled into the driveway of an all too familiar house.

She started scanning the front yard. She remembered everything. The huge garden lining the porch of the huge house, the beautiful stones surrounding it and even the bench in the far right corner of the concrete porch. Her mom parked the car and pulled the keys out before stepping out of the car with her daughter following behind her.

"So? Is it exactly how you remembered it?" She looked over at her daughter and smiled proudly. She put her arm around her shoulders and kissed her cheek. The dark haired teen scrunched her nose at her mother as she let go and walked over to the trunk of their car.

"I can't believe we're actually living here now." She said as her mother opened the trunk. Ariella's parents had got this house as a summer vacation home before she was even born. Her mother said it was nice to have a house to escape to, somewhere familiar. She grew up in the obx. They would live there every summer. After her parents got a divorce her mom decided to move herself and Ariella into the house officially. She said it would be better for the both of them, Ariella didn't know how she felt about it but she decided to trust her mother.

"Hello? Earth to Ariella? A little help here." Her mother laughed while holding three small boxes in her arms. She quickly snapped out of her thoughts and took the boxes from her mothers hands so that she was able to unlock the front door for the both of them. She unlocked the door, turning the metal doorknob and walking straight in as Ariella followed right behind her. Her sneakers squeaked on the sleek, dark brown wooden floor as she looked around the place, all the memories from previous summers came flooding back. She continued down the hall still following her mother over to the kitchen island, placing down the boxes in her hands that were labeled 'Kitchen'. She grabbed some scissors and started cutting open the boxes as Ariella walked over to the nearby staircase grabbing the railing grazing her hand along the sleek dark wood that was matching the floors.

"Mom, can I have the same room again?" She yelled out to her mother. Her mother looked over from the kitchen.

"Yes of course, sweetie" Her mother smiled before going back to opening the boxes. Ariella bolted up the stairs remembering the exact room she's wanted, the same room shes had every year. She looked around at all the family pictures and plants decorating the walls and hallways of the top floor. Ariellas gaze shifted down at the gray carpeted stairs as she walked up each step. When she made it to the top of the stairs she walked over to the big wooden door. The cold metal touched her hand as she turned the door knob revealing her old room.

She walked in, glancing over at everything, seeing how it was exactly as she left it. She walked over to her window and sat down on the seat underneath it. She opened the curtains revealing a beautiful view of a beach that was within walking distance of her house. She sat for a moment taking everything in, her house, her room, the view. Even though she's been here many times before, this time felt different. Maybe because she knew that she was living here now or because of all the memories from the previous summer she spent at this house. Taking a deep breath she was quickly interrupted by a knock at her door. She turned to look at her mother who was opening her door and peaking in.

"I'm going next door to visit the Camerons and update them on everything happening, would you like to come?" Her mother asked her.

Ariella sat for a moment thinking about the question.
