A Most Unusual Princess

The only child of King Brent and Queen Leanne. she may be the heir to the throne, but Princess Henrietta is definitely most unusual! Even more so unusual then her her mother. Rather then just dress in fancy gowns and greet people, this princess would rather dress like a commoner and engage in sports like arm wrestling, archery, and more! The Princess also has a thrill for playing tricks on people and showing off her absurdly genius mind. With the passing of King Brent and the Queen's health rumored to be declining, it may soon be time for this princess to assume the throne. As for if it will be by herself or with a husband, time will tell. But honestly, who would want to marry such an untraditional princess?

'Did you read the latest article in The Trentford daily? It's about you and your, uniqueness.' Mark nervously asked.

'Don't care. All the articles are the same: Always printing out how 'untraditional' I am like it's an absolutely terrible thing. Eye rolls. 'It's so boring.' Hetty replied, uninterested.

'All they're doing is pointing out your unique qualities and asking what amazing man would want to marry you.'

'Sigh. Mark dear. I've been completely different ever since I was born! Cursed with being dwarf sized forever, a genius brain, wanting to be more boy-ish instead of loving fancy gowns, the press only points all that out as a warning signal to eligible men that I'm not the traditional 'stands in the background looking pretty' royal! Princes and Dukes that I've met, they want that kind of princess, and I can't change who I am to satisfy them!'

'Your Highness, you're an extraordinary person, and no one would ever expect you to change who you are. It's just, are you prepared to 1 day possibly rule the kingdom by yourself?' Mark asked.

Hetty let out a deep sigh. 'I know it's not as easy as my mom makes it look, but I can't bear the thought of becoming just a background figure with a big title. Surely you understand that?'

'I do. But, then what does that mean for us right now? I mean, no one knows we're in this country, and, you definitely look, unroyal.' Mark replied, pointing out Hetty's shirt and baggy pants.

'Sigh. I just want some time to myself, alone! Now, let's go find some place nice to stay.'

An Unusual Prince

He may become the ruler of Birkdale someday, but His Highness, Prince Owen Granger is certainly an odd one! From a grumpy persona, to seemingly always pushing away eligible women, even famously quoting that if he were to have to pick a wife, it would have to be someone who would love and work with him as an equal instead of politics. Whether or not this untraditional way of being a royal works for him getting a wife, this is certainly 1 prince to keep an eye on!

'Come on sir, it'll blow over.' Luke said.

'No. No it won't! Because everyone outside of the castle expects me to marry someone purely out of politics instead of love!' Granger barked.

'But sir, it's just the stupid press. Your father's feelings are different from theirs.'

'My parents had an arranged marriage, and while they might have developed feelings for each other over time, they eventually faded. And shortly after my mom died, I overheard my father say that his biggest regret was forcing her to marry him! Which confirmed my suspicion that for the last 2 or 3 years that they stopped loving each other. I don't want a marriage like theirs, I want 1 for love! Is that too much to grasp for certain people?!' Granger said.

'Well sir, the past 2 monarchs have had arranged marriages. I'm sure you see what that looks like to some when you say that you want a marriage with love instead of politics.' Luke replied.

'Well, they better get used to it. Because even if I have to be the sole heir of this kingdom, I won't marry unless it's for love!'

Then he went out to cut firewood.

'Oh boy. The thought of a wedless prince one day leading this kingdom? That's definitely unheard of! Hopefully, he finds someone who fits his standards.' Luke thought, worried.
