Future queen declares duel for the crown!

In a feat never before seen in this kingdom, the future queen, Henrietta, has declared a challenge to Duke Kilbride and Prince Owen Granger of Brikdale. They will battle it out in a duel of skill and wits, and whoever the winner is will be her husband and our future king. Is the Princess making the right choice? Or will this unusual choice in choosing a husband give us a bad king? We will soon find out.

Lake Leanne.

'I gotta say, this is certainly a very dramatic way of beginning your reign! Couldn't you have just accepted my proposal and leave it at that?' Granger asked.

'Because A: My advisors clearly want me to marry the Duke, and I don't want to. B: Because I know you are a skilled swordsman. C: This will give you the perfect opportunity to prove to everyone we know of that you are indeed worthy of being my husband!' Hetty replied. 'This is our chance for everyone to accept us as rulers!'

'Well okay. I just hope you know how much trust you are putting in me to win.'

'No risk, no reward.'

That night, Hetty was going through her mother's things when she saw an envelope marked: 'To my daughter to read when I am gone.' She opened it.

The letter went like this:

'My sweet daughter. I want you to marry because I know you have found your soulmate! You're in love with the Prince from Brikdale, I've seen the way your eyes light up when you read his letters, I've seen how you read his letters, I've seen how you act when you talk about him, I think you also know how you feel about him as well. Don't let the fear of the unknown keep you from your dream of marrying for love! I wish you all the best. Mom.'

Hetty was walking through the castle to find the events coordinator to call off the whole duel when she overheard taking.

'But sir, the future queen would be a real part of ruling this kingdom, it would be best to abide by her wishes.' Someone said.

'I don't care what she thinks. The press and even her own advisors think she's not fit to rule on her own, so therefore, I'll take over all the main duties. She'll just be my loyal wife.' Kilbride replied.

'But sir! She's not the one to just listen to those kind of orders!'

'Do you really think I'm supposed to be intimidated by a tiny tomboy princess who doesn't even act like a royal?! She will listen to me, or I will strip her of her title, her fortune, and if I have to, I'll banish her!'

Shocked by what she heard, Hetty went back to her bedroom.

After taking a few minutes to cool off, she knew she had a big choice to make:

Either call off the whole duel and just marry Granger and deal with the press and her advisors herself with whatever doubts they had, or hope that Granger wins and proves once and for all that their love for each other was indeed real and not foolish or temporally.

After deciding what to do, she went to see the events coordinator and told him what events to include.
