Rebecca's hood was over her head, being unseen. She quickly strolled down the street in the damp town. Her blue eyes darted around the road.
She hurried to the little gas station just by Westbrook Road. Breathing a sigh of relief, she scampered inside.
The door swung open, and Rebecca's boots thunk-thunked inside. She slammed her hand on the counter and demanded for a pack of gum.
The man just let out a sigh and said, "That'll be $1.33."
Rebecca rolled her eyes. "Whatever." She slapped a dollar and a quarter on the table.
"Keep the change."
The man handed her a pack of gum. "Well, alright, I'll see you around. Bye."
Rebecca snatched the gum and slammed the door. Tomorrow will be better, she thought. Gum in school.
