Chapter 3 - First day

You wake up refreshed. While getting ready for work, you bump into Zef who is about to leave the apartment.

Zef:
"Oh hey Y/N, are you feeling better?"

You nod in reply then Zef slips on his shoes and leaves.

You felt bad, you haven't talked to Zef or Mango properly since yesterday.

"I'll make it up to them!"

You pondered about what you could do to make it seem like you weren't mad at them.

"Make breakfast? No..Zef already left and Mango won't wake up for a few hours. Oh I got it!"

You snapped your fingers. You checked the time, you had around 15 minutes to get ready for work. You hurriedly change into some casual clothes and rush out the door.

The usual beep of your car keys didn't go off like it would've. You pressed the key to start your car again but no sound was made.

You:
"Ugh guess I'm taking the bus, I hate my stupid car!"

You grumble aloud to yourself and dash to the nearest bus stop. You were used to this happening every two weeks, your car was old and would refuse to start on occasion. It really annoyed you but you did not have the funds to get a new car, especially as a broke college student.

While impatiently waiting for the bus you receive a notification from discord.

"Hm, I haven't talked to the pumkins in a while."

You open discord to see a few messages from Mannie, Ashen, Cactus, and Rosa.

You checked the art channel to see Ashens amazing art pieces, you couldn't help but react with as many emotes as you could.

Checking the other channels, you saw Cactus and Rosa having a casual conversation in the channel named spam. You checked the next channel under to see Mannie sending lyrics, probably to some trending TikTok song. You try to join in but you end up sending the wrong lyrics.

Those are the WRONG LYRICS !!!

You turn off your phone as your bus arrives. You pull out your wallet but realize you have no change.

"Ugh great now I have no money for the bus, I'm going to be late!"

You look for the nearest person to ask if they have any change but they already boarded the bus you sigh and give up as the door to the bus closes and it drives off.

You stand in silence, defeated. Your car didn't work and now you have to walk to work. It was faster than waiting for another bus anyway.

The walk to work was painful, it was cold outside and you only wore a thin jacket. To make things worse, you were an hour late to work.

You open the doors to the cafe and the warm embrace of the cafe immediately warms up your freezing body. Then you turn to see a very disappointed Rosa waiting at the counter. Rosa approached you and you knew immediately that you were going to get a scolding.

Rosa:
"Please tell me why you're a whole hour late? We've had quite a few customers and could've used the extra help. I know it's your first day and need training but making drinks and serving customers is not hard."

You:
"I'm very sorry Rosa I didn't mean to be late, my car wouldn't start and I missed the bus and-"

Rosa:
"Save it, I worked extra hard this morning to serve more customers and I'm very tired and don't want to deal with this nonsense. Please, come to the back and I'll start training you."
