Chapter 5:

The next day

Carol's POV:

Luckily, my best friend drives me to the restaurant. Todd, after an impromptu idea, had moved today's rehearsal and meeting to Central Park. I have no idea why. He just meant that we should get a feel for the atmosphere of our piece. I definitely won't be able to make it on time.

We both sit in her vintage convertible and she drives through the streets like the lunatic she easily is. The first few minutes pass rather silently.

"Don't worry about it Carol. It's just lunch with Rindy's teacher."

"No it's not just lunch Abby! Why don't you understand?"

"What's wrong with you? I thought she just wanted to give you your gloves back and talk about Rindy?"

"At least that's what she said. Do you think someone was mean to my kid or Harge showed up and that's why she wants to talk to me? Man why did I just say if she wanted to have lunch with me?! Help me Abby.

"How? It's your own fault for the situation, so you go to this young and hot teacher. How long has it been since you slept with a woman, anyway?"

I just look down to somewhat hide the rising blush on my face. But to no avail. Abby, unfortunately, knows me too well and starts laughing at this. But not the malicious kind.

"I hope you know what you're doing."

"Never knew Abby."

Therese's POV:

I specifically let my students get to their PE teachers a little early so I could take a longer break and maybe spend longer with her.I'm sitting in the restaurant Carol designated for our meeting. Nothing in here meets my expectations. The place looks like I'm in a 1950s restaurant. Everything in here feels like time travel. Even the employees are wearing matching clothes from the time. It's a perfect fit here, but something decidedly missing.

Namely, Carol. Just her and nothing else.

Did I say something wrong yesterday about her standing me up? Luckily, my class now has gym class with Mr. Semco. This gave me a free period, which is actually perfect for today. But she seems to have lost interest in her gloves and in talking to me. I've been waiting in the restaurant for some time. The few minutes that have actually passed seemed like eternities to me. Because I don't want to spend a day or an hour without her. Hopefully she will come soon.

Slowly losing hope that she will come at all, I get out my sketchbook and continue drawing my picture of Carol.

Five more minutes pass, still no sign of life from Carol. Has she forgotten me?

I hear the front door of the restaurant open rapidly. Repetitive footsteps sound with the typical sound of high heels.

The sound gets louder and louder the closer it gets to me.

A feminine hand gently touches my shoulder. My skin tightens under this tender touch. I feel a warm breath brush my neck and ear.

"Hello my angel. I'm sorry for the delay. I hope you forgive." says a voice all too familiar to me.

"Carol," was all I said as I slowly turned my head until we could look deep into each other's eyes. Never in this short time has she looked at me like she did at that moment.

I can't stop myself, but I have to look at her lips. All I can think about at this moment is feeling her lips on mine and never stopping. Slowly I bend over so that we are only a few millimeters away from each other. She also seems to be affected by the situation. Because her breaths also become less and less the less we are away from each other. Just as she wanted to take the initiative and taste my lips and my kiss, a loud male throat clearing sounds.
