"Don't be afraid." The mother says onto him; her only son.

"I will never be Ma. I'll always protect you." Her seven year old only son says bravely beside her; with meaningful deep ocean blue eyes; just like hers that meant so much to her. As a tear slid down her cheek because of the numbness of her body; and because she can not even feel the face or the tiny body of his beloved son beside her. And right then and there, she knew that she no longer could see this little dark-haired boy grow into a fine young man.

"And always remember," she says weakly.

"I will always be here for you. I love you Drake" She says stroking the face of his son with her almost skeletal hand one last time as she slips away.

"Goodnight Ma." The little boy says eagerly for he was not aware of what was happening in that room of the hospital. And then a beep goes off in the room.

A dozen doctors and nurses came charging inside the room; the doctor immediately performed CPR on the mother. The boy stands quietly at the corner; utterly confused as to why the men in white are making such a big fuss with his mother that was sleeping. 'They would wake her up.' he thought but continues to stay quiet in his corner.

After a while they all stopped and the doctor read his watch then said;

"Time of death; nine-thirty-four pm." The doctor came up to the now orphaned son and gave him a hug. The boy stood still in his arms; still unaware of what had happened as they wheel away his mother.

The funeral was held shortly after a few days. The kind young doctor of the mother named Dr. Scott Williams pitied the single mother of the boy and sponsored the tiny funeral; which consisted of him; the five-year old son; the pastor and some men holding the shovels. The woman wasn't from the country; that they knew from the papers she filled when she got diagnosed for cancer. But all those who attended were holding back tears as they hear the young boy say:

"I don't think Ma's comfy in that tiny bed. When is she gonna wake up Doctor?" The boy asks the doctor with curiosity while holding the his hand; the doctor stays silent and knelt next to him holding the tiny shoulders of the boy by his side. The service ended and then started the burial.

"What's happening?" The boy asks as he notices the coffin getting lowered down in the ground.

"What are you doing?" The boy asks again as the man starts burying the white coffin.

"WHY ARE YOU BURYING MY MA!" The boy screamed as he saw the men shovel soil to her coffin. The boy tries to stop them by hitting their legs with weak punches, but the men continue on with their jobs.

"I WILL PROTECT MY MA! STOP! PLEASE!" The boy cried trying to reach the coffin as the men; who are now crying; still continue to shovel; with each breathing second they shovel soil felt like it weighed a ton.

"MA! WAKE UP!! PLEASE GET OUT OF THERE!! TAKE MY HAND!!" The boy cries again; while reaching for the coffin that was now six feet deep in the ground and he tries to shake off the strong hands that condemns him him to be close to his mother; to be in her arms as she would kiss his forehead as they would sleep in their tiny bed space; the boy thought. Nobody had the courage to tell this poor boy the truth of what was happening; as the boy desperately reach for his mother in the ground while he was held back by Dr. Williams, the boy suddenly became silent.

"I will always be here for you." The boy heard a voice that only he had heard; a voice that echoed in his head that sounded like an angel led him to stop; the doctor released him as he stands up, wiped his tears away with his dirty soiled hands and, ran away.
