Season 1 Episode 6.2

The group and I were following Major Williams along the side of the fence. So far the place was nice. No Zs so far. It doesn't seem as strange as The Red Skull group that I was stuck at. But there is always more than what meet that eye.
"I feel so much lighter without that damn hammer." Garnet says. Walking alongside Major Williams.
"Yeah, I feel naked, and not in a good way," Warren says.
Honestly, I felt the same. I was finally able to get my own weapon to defend myself and I ended up having to give it up just to be inside of some cage just like before.
"When we started out, everyone was armed. Then one day a guy decides to shoot his wife's boyfriend," Major Williams says, "He turned, and we lost five people that day. So, we made a rule. Only guards could carry inside. Then a trading group came in. Took a gun off a guard. Seven dead that day. We were lucky it wasn't worse."
We started to approach an actual cage. One that was small, with thicker bars.
"We have a strong perimeter. Never been breached. All our problems happen inside. So we removed the threat. No weapons inside the wall, period. It's a better way to live. Safer." He continues on.
I don't know about safer.
"Being armed all the time has an effect on people," Garnet was agreeing with how this guy was thinking, "Maybe I'm naive, but this gives me hope."
What I went through, I feel safer with my sword on my side. I could have saved myself years ago
"Is this a zombie cage?" Warren asks.
"Doesn't see much use these day." Major Williams says.
But why have a zombie cage? Why trap zombies inside of the wall that was meant to be a safe place?
"We patrol the surrounding area for zs twice a day, so they aren't really a problem. It's the people we have to worry about."
"So you put people in the cage?" I ask, over everyone. My throat stung a bit when I did.
Major Williams looks back at me, "Only the ones that get out of hand. So far we haven't had any issues. Since going weapon-free we've gone a year without a fatality. Think about that. You've been out in the world. How many deaths have you seen in the last year?"
"Enough for a lifetime," Garnet answers.
"What if someone, you know, dies of natural causes?" Murphy asks.
"Sure, that could happen."
That wasn't a real answer.
We finally entered the big 'safe' building.
"All the doors and gates close automatically, sealing off each section of the compound. Like on a submarine. Can't be opened by Zs. Everything's been zombie-proofed." Major Williams finally stops and looks back to the group.
"You ever hear of the Titanic?" Murphy asks.
I was with Murphy. It may seem safe but what if danger comes?
"You're welcome to wait outside in your vehicle." Major was pissed at Murphy.
"You'll have to forgive my friend. He's been through a lot." Garnet speaks for Murphy.
