3:25PM, Friday Afternoon
I walked into my room, tossing my book bag on the carpet floors. I collapsed on my bed, burying my head into my pillows.
After lunch, I overheard Gabriel telling his friends about what he was going to wear at Leah's party. I honestly couldn't believe him. Was he dense? All day I was hinting to him that I didn't want him to attend that party. I'm not controlling nor jealous. At least I told myself that.
Maybe I was jealous. Leah has stolen all my friends before. I guess I just didn't want it to happen again. Especially at her foolish party.
A ding came from my phone. I grabbed it, spotting a message coming from Jane.Jane💛: "Heya, you good?"
Me: "Yeah, why?"
Jane💛: "You've been acting weird since you heard about Leah's party."
Me: "It's whatever."I rolled my eyes, thinking back to the last party she hosted during freshman year. It's sort of an annual thing. She always hosts parties on her birthday and people are always looking forward to them. Mostly because her carefree parents are never home and people get to do whatever they want. Like Beer pong, Strip Poker, Spin The Bottle, Suck and blow, and Seven Minutes In Heaven.
Last year, Leah blowed Jake Stephens, our schools most popular football player. I looked back at my phone, texting Jane once again.
Me: "Are you seriously going though?"
Jane💛: "Yeah, Gabriel is going and you know how he gets at parties."
Me: "I'm surprised. Gabe used to be so scrawny. He didn't really like parties in middle school."
Jane💛: "Lol. Jasmine you know he's a football player now. He's not so scrawny anymore 😉."My cheeks turned peach pink. It was true. Gabe wasn't so scrawny anymore, or shy. He really changed throughout the years. But maybe change was good.
Me: "You guys are gonna have so much fun without me."
Jane💛: "No! You need to come."
Me: "Lol I didn't get invited though?"
Jane💛: "So?🫣 Sneak in. There's so much people that she won't even notice."I thought to myself. More than 25 people were gonna be coming to that party. Jane was right. Leah won't even notice i'm there.
Me: "Pick me up at 4:50. The party is at 5 right? I'm getting ready.😌"
Jane💛: "Yess!🙊"I stood up, rushing towards my closet. I immediately started pulling out nice but comfortable clothes. Her parties were closer to frat than formal.
I tried on a couple of outfits, but only liked a single one. A cropped white graphic tee with light washed jean shorts. I backed up, looking at myself in the mirror. "This is cute." I told myself, playing with my hair. I grabbed my purse, checking for my wallet, lipgloss, and other essentials. And once I was ready, I texted Jane a little reminder.
Me: "Jane, pick me up. I'm ready."
Jane💛: "On my way!"I smiled, quite excited. Maybe this year, I could have fun at Leah's party.
4:55PM, Leah's House
Jane and I pulled up to a huge modern mansion. Once I spotted the familiar building, memories shot my brain like bullets, but I pushed that aside. If I was going to have fun, I couldn't dwell on the past. The parking was limited. Dozens of cars took up empty spaces, and I could spot some neighbors giving annoyed glances. Once we exited the car, we could hear the loud music blasting from the inside of the house.
"Yeah.. we're definitely here." Jane chuckled, taking in the chaotic view. I grabbed her hand, walking through the lawn to get inside.
"Where's Gabriel?" I questioned, looking around. "I dunno. He's probably inside." Jane shrugged. The door was wide open, so we just walked inside. The smell of cheap beer and nicotine hit our faces as soon as we entered. I looked around, seeing young couples making love in the most "discreet" places. I even spotted Leah greeting the football team at the back entrance. She wore a slutty ponytail, her face caked with makeup. The only thing that covered her body was a tight red crop top with booty shorts her ass hung out of.
I looked away from her top, rolling my eyes. She was always the "free the nips" type of gal.
Leah then immediately caught me staring. Her face turned white. "So much for being discreet." Jane whispered in my ear as Leah started walking towards us, her loud heels clomping with each step. "Hey Junky Jasmine. Didn't know you were coming." Leah scoffed, looking me up and down. "Surprise bitch. Did you miss me?" I shot her a sarcastic smile, stepping away from the situation.
"Oh so you're bold bold." Jane walked beside me, hitting my side playfully.
"All birthday girls need a little surprise."
