It was Fall of 1870, A 17 year old boy and his twin sister would just be like any teen trying to be responsible and respectful to make their family proud. Especially when it came to their father, a man of honor but also a cruel man behind close doors, a man who wouldn't care to end your suffering or be the cause of it. But when you're that type of man and mess with the wrong person..well there's consequences. The boy Athan and his Sister Amber, would just be doing what they normally do at night. Enjoying a peaceful reading time with their mother, even though they were of an age that they had to grow up quickly their mother wouldn't care to still read them stories to at least have that same bond before it would be quickly taken away because of adulthood coming to them. Their mother closing up the book, that she finally finished reading to them.
"That's all!?" Amber would ask annoyed wanting more.
"Yes my sweet Amber, that's all my father wrote before he sadly passed." She would say caressing the top of Amber's deep brown hair mostly a black color.
"So you're telling me your father only wrote one book on these so called blood soul suckers? And left a cliffhanger?" Athan would ask crossing his arms.
"Like I said he didn't get time Athan, but enough with all this. It is time for bed, you both have a very big day tomorrow." Their mother would say smiling, waving them to get up off the chairs in the library.
"Yes, our day we get matched for marriage. Goodnight my sweet mother!" Amber would say getting up and heading to her room.
Athan would just follow Amber before making a turn to his room which was right down the hall from hers. He hated the idea of marriage especially to someone he never even met. And especially since he already has someone he wants to marry, but she doesn't quite fit the requirements. Athan would wait a bit before peeking out his room to quietly make his way out the front door. As stressed as he was he couldn't wait to go see his true lover, a girl he met a month ago in town..he never seen her before but he was intrigued by her. a Beautiful pale, blonde haired girl, the length of her hair going down to her hips. Her eyes blue, they had a cold but gentle warmth to them. They met, and of course hit it off. It was like they're soulmates.
"My love!" The girl would say running to Athan, and hugging him tightly. Before receiving a sweet kiss on her lips.
"Oh how I've missed you Mary." He'd say after his sweet kiss with her.
She'd smile before rubbing her fingers against his cheek. "You look stressed" she'd say looking into his eyes.
"I am..very much so. My match making is tomorrow, I'm not ready for such a thing. But you know how my father is, the sooner the better for grandchildren while we can." He'd say looking down at her.
"Let's just run away, your father won't suspect a thing. Let's do it tonight." She'd say looking up at him.
"I would but what about my mother and sister, I can't just leave them alone with that crazy man. I love you b-" she would cut him off saying.
"If you love me you will do if, you will not go through with your fathers plan and you'll live with me forever."He was stuck with what she said, she was right he loves her and would do anything for her. But running away and leaving your mother and sister, with a father who is a psychopath is not such a good plan. But Athan wouldn't be able to find anyone like Mary ever again, and it hurt him to know he would have to choose.
"Are you really thinking about such an option right now!?" She was angry, and Athan never seen Mary like this.
"My love, there's no reason to get so angry. I can't just choose between my family and the love of my life." He'd say rubbing her arms in a comforting way. But she wasn't pleased.
"You complain everyday about your father! We're in love and there's a chance for us to be together but you won't take it." She moved away from athans hands, the anger is her voice was new to him.
"My love, you just don't understand there's no reason for us to fight and get angry." He'd say still trying to calm down the love of his life.
"I do understand, you'd rather have your father ruin our love. You'd want to be in that house and marry a stranger, god probably a whore for all I know your father is the type to pick those out. And it's hilarious because we're still here hiding our love for one another!" She would shout.
"If he found out about us who knows what he'll do! I told you this before Mary!" He would shout back, he wasn't angry he was just annoyed with the fact on how Mary was acting.
"Just make a choice Athan!" She was eager to get an answer, she made sure to grip onto athans arms squeezing. It was like something possessed Mary, she was a whole new person. She wasn't shy, quiet, sweet. She was angry, annoyed, loud, and aggressive.
"Jesus Mary! You're overreacting, I don't know what is going on with you but we can talk tomorrow. You need to rest." He'd move Mary's hands forcefully, her grip was strong. Not gentle like it was before. He shook it off before turning around to head back home. But instead he felt something grip him before a sharp pain was shot through his neck. Someone or something was biting him. He tried to stop it but he felt weaker by the moment and eventually got thrown to the ground once he passed out. The thirst he kept feeling, his clothes feeling wet. Every moment passed he would black out then come back but it was a whole cycle until he woke up not remembering anything that happened before looking around and seeing his surroundings. Blood everywhere, on the walls, floors, curtains his mom loved. His clothes were covered in blood, but what did he do? What has happened? Why can't he remember anything?
