The Daughter of the Crystals

Chapter 1

As Aliah starts to go to the palace, she wondered what the king wanted. Why does he want all the fillies and colts to come to the palace immediately? What's so important? As she arrived there, she saw that there were targets and all the unicorns were gathered in one room. "Now, I called you all in here so that I can find who my best heir could be. If you win, you will have a lavished life of being a prince or princess." Sombra said. Aliah got a little happier, as a younger filly, she loved to have magic fights with her friends, she can see some in this row. She usually won the fights. After she was done with her slave work, she had smuggled a few magic books with her into her room, she read them when she was supposed to be asleep, though the chance of her getting caught was high. As Aliah tries to remember what the strongest spell she has learned so far, she remembers her parents. If I win, I could get them out of this slave life too, Aliah thought, then we can all be a happy family again. Not knowing much about royalty, she still thought she could get her parents back. "Now, I want you all to individually aim for the target with your best spell" the king said, looking at all the contestants. Aliah was the 14th in line. I know I can think of that spell, I was memorizing it. Now, what did it say again? She hoped to remember, as she was getting closer to the front, she was remembering it slowly. When it was her time to go, she had the whole spell in her mind by then, then with a blast, she did the spell that blew up her whole target and nearly blew up some stone as well. Some guards had to replace the target. Aliah saw one of the guard's face. Her dad. As she was walking while looking behind her, she saw that he was crying a bit. She wanted to just run and hug him so badly, but if she did, there is a chance she can't become royalty to save him or mom, or she could even die by how mean Sombra is. I want to see dad! I want mom! But, with that spell, I'm sure I'll see them again soon. As she thought that, she didn't know that Sombra was staring at her. So, that must be a close friend or relative of her. He thought. If no one is better than her, then she's gonna win. The next day, the results came out. As all the Earth, Pegasi, and Unicorn kids gathered again but as a group, Sombra started to say the 1st out of every group. "Come up to me when I say your name if you won. From the Earth group, Ezial won. From the Pegasus group, Daisy won. From the Unicorn group, Aliah won." As all 3 of us gathered up there, we all looked at each other, then Sombra turns around and says, "You 3 will be siblings from now on. I want you all to try to be nice to each other," then thinks, if possible. He starts laughing in his mind, then turns around again, the 3 start looking at each other, all super happy. "Now, the rest of you can have a half hour break before working again, good-bye!" I watched as all the other fillies and colts walked away with the guards. "Sombra," Then Sombra interrupted Aliah in a mean, scornful way, "Call me dad." "Uh, dad, is that why we weren't chained to the other kids?" She corrected herself. "... Yes"
