25: ALLIES OF THE ASHES

"Sir Brook am really sorry for what I did I never met to upset you" I apologized while Brook pushed me further and farther from the captain's office, afterwards he laughed loudly till he coughed and coughed, leaving me in a perplexed state.

"Relax big boy I was just kidding, you should have seen the look on your face, you nearly cried" he said and another loud laugh followed, I sighed in relief, all is well after all.

"How are you doing kid?" He asked and I nodded "you wanted to see me?"

"Yes Brook and it's about Williams, do you know where he is?" I asked as I waited anxiously for an answer.

"Mm-hmm, your day must be lucky, I met him few hours ago and he's not very comfortable in his new place, I can show you for a quick look but we must not follow the same route" I nodded and he continued "you follow that path at the back of the east block, there's a small gate and meet me there after lunch I'll be there" he said and we departed differently.

After lunch, I went to the path at the back of the east block, though it wasn't as easy as Brooklyn said, cops were also crawling around the area and the path was full of dirt and smells like shit, but successfully I was able to maneuver some of them and I stood before an old iron gate, though it's not actually a vast gate, but it's stronger than the others.

Brooklyn took alot of time to get to where I was and I shot him a sad look.

"What's wrong?" He asked, revealing a bunch of keys and tried unlocking the gate that was secured with multiple rusted padlocks, it wasn't easy because the locks took alot of time to yield.

As we walked quietly, we got to another small gate, on top was boldly written HARDENED, I quoted in my head. As we got into the environment I was shocked, their wasn't any guards here.

"I thought the cops patrolled everywhere but I don't see any here" I said and Brooklyn chuckled.

"We still have about thirty minutes before the Lunch's hour expires, besides these men would rather talk and argue on nonsense that will buys us more time like twenty minutes, moreover if we get seen by Lockwood's boys outside I'll loose my Job and there will be more slices top your sentence, so our primary objective is not to get caught" he said and I nodded in agreement.

As we got to the inner Hall, there was a small corridor that allows the bobbies to roam to and fro as the watch the hardened prisoners, I discovered that this place had more more effective electronic devices, like the CCTV cameras, the light bulbs that shone like ghost lights, the electronic door and the rest of them, this sent chills down my spine but I still manage to stand on my feet.

Not long Brooklyn brought out his identity card and unlocked the first and second doors, he unbolted the third one afterwards we both went in and found it empty.

"Christ! Where did - he was here" Said Brooklyn, powering on his torchlight but no one was there.

"Are you sure this is his cell?" Levi asked and the officer nodded heading out of the cell.

"Look" said Brooklyn"that's his cell number two hundred and forty-one (241) am not mistaken" he said signaling me to come out from his cell.

"Maybe he Escaped" I said and Brook shook his head.

"I don't see any sign of jail break or anything that looks to be done forcefully, maybe he was captured or relocated to another cell" said Brook, securing the third and second door.

"So what do we do now?" I asked and he wiped his face with his handkerchief.

"I will investigate on his whereabouts and get back to you later" he said, turning his face to his wrist watch "we still have twelve minutes before lunch expires, now you stay out of trouble kid and don't tell this to anyone" I nodded firmly after those words and we stealthily made our way out of the Hardened gates and parted ways but just as I made my way out, behind the East block, I came face to face with the Tiger and his colleagues and what were they holding, cigarettes.

After a long pause, I let out a deep breath, as those reddish evil eyes of the gang devoured me, I didn't made any attempt to run else things will turn bad, but instead he came towards me.

"Hmm, Who do we have here?" Philip asked and quickly Theo and Levi held my hands from behind and brought me closer to Philip, he didn't look very friendly now, with a cigarette hanging on his lips.

"Who are these new guys here?" I asked but I got no response.

"Tiger, it's the Goodman friend Levi" Theo said and a roar of laughter followed by the cigar crews.

"Levi" Phil said and exhaled his cigarette smoke right to my face and I look away, only to receive a huge buffet at the back of my head "decrease his height" Philip said and swiftly I was on the ground and my ankles stung with pain.

"Am going to ask you a question and am not going to say it twice, where are you coming from?" Philip asked exhaling the smoke from the cigar.

I was silent at the moment and I sat up on the floor, studying the faces of each and every one of them, I returned my gaze at Philip and he nodded once to Theo afterwards he gave me a huge elbow behind my back and I reacted sharply, the pain traveling down my body.

"If I were you, I answer the goddamn question" I heard a voice say from the crew but I didn't see who. Besides it looks like like if I don't do something sooner, I won't have any momentum to defend myself.
