Valentine's was today.
Jisoo waits for Chaeyoung to arrive at school, she sits there in the front waiting, in-class waiting, and at lunch waiting.
Lisa watched from afar seeing the girl looking at the doors waiting for her to arrive, she looks back at her friends. Jisoo stood up from her seat before leaving the cafeteria,
She walks down the halls with her cake specially made for someone. She could hear the sounds of paint cans falling as she peers into a classroom, the dimmed orange light reflected a figure sitting in the middle of cans.
"Chaeyoung?" She calls out as the girl looks back with tears in her eyes, Jisoo could feel her heartbreak as she walks in.
"Don't." Chaeyoung chokes back a sob as Jisoo can see she was stressed,
"Hey, are you okay?" She placed the cake on the table and walks over to her, she looks at the painting in front of them making out what seemed to be a family. Chaeyoung looks down at her fists as Jisoo frowns, 'what do I do?'
Chaeyoung widens her eyes as a pair of arms wrapped around her, she could feel the warmth she longed for.
"I don't know what's wrong but it'll be alright." Jisoo says as Chaeyoung wiped her face, "Do you wanna talk about it?"
"It's my parent's anniversary." Chaeyoung says as Jisoo looked at the painting, "They're death anniversary."
'On Valentine's day?' Jisoo thought as Chaeyoung looks at the painting.
"They went on a trip but never came back, the next day I was playing outside when the cops appeared. That's when I was told."
"I'm sorry for your lost." Jisoo says rubbing her back, "I didn't know."
"Because I don't tell anyone." Chaeyoung looks at her, "That's why I don't celebrate it."
"Oh, well I got you something!" Jisoo says pulling away, "close your eyes!" Chaeyoung covered her eyes as Jisoo grabbed the bag.
With the rustling of a bag before it was kicked away, Jisoo kneels to the floor and places the box on the girl's lap.
"Open them"
Chaeyoung lowers her hands seeing a pink boxes cake on her lap, she looks at the black icing that had a message.
Happy Valentine's!
Chaeyoung smiles before taking a closer look at one small detail,
"Why is there a chipmunk?"
"Ah, You remind me of one." Jisoo chuckled nervously as Chaeyoung's eyes glued onto her, "do you like it?"
"I love it." Chaeyoung smiled warmly causing Jisoo to feel lighter as if butterflies were in her stomach.
"That's great to hear, I made it!"
"You made this?"
"Yeah, Lisa helped me since her Dad owns a restaurant." Jisoo smiled, "and I know how much you like food."
"You know me well."
"Of course," Jisoo says as Chaeyoung pulls the top of the box off, she grabbed the pink fork that was on the box. She breaks off a piece of the cake before bringing it up to Jisoo's lips,
"Hmm?"
"Shouldn't the baker have the first bite?" Chaeyoung asks as Jisoo had a "gay panic"
"I- Sure?" She opened her mouth as Chaeyoung fed her, she tasted the delicious strawberry and chocolate combinations.
Chaeyoung takes a bite and hums in delight,
"It's good"
"Right? Lisa told me the desserts are usually good."
"She's right."
Lisa peeked in the room and smiled before walking away, she pulled out her phone to text her "Valentine's" she looks around before suspiciously disappearing into an empty classroom.
Valentine's with Chaeyoung was as fun as Jisoo imagined, even if it was a hard time for the girl- she wanted to make it happy.
"Your room is cute," Chaeyoung says looking around, she saw pictures of what she assumed to be Jennie.
"Taeyeon helped me," Jisoo answered as the older lady wasn't at home today, apparently one of the kids got adopted.
"Oh." Chaeyoung sat on Jisoo's bed seeing the older girl place her stuff away neatly, "Are you close with the kids?" She asks as Jisoo snorts.
"There's an age gap." Jisoo reminds her, "of course not."
"You know, I and my sister have quite an age gap." Chaeyoung says, "What about you and Jennie?"
"I'm a year older." Jisoo says as she looks at the old photos of them, "But people used to think we were twins."
"I can see it." Chaeyoung points out before seeing a stuffed octopus on Jisoo's bed, "How's Jennie?"
"Jennie? She's studying for a test." Jisoo says as she closed a drawer, "She wants to come to Korea and study."
"I see, what are you gonna do?"
'What would I do?'
The next day, Taeyeon and Jisoo were saying goodbye to one of the kids. Taeyeon was talking to them and the family as Jisoo watched from the front door, she didn't dare to enter.
She wondered if Jennie's family would ever adopt her or even-
"Ready?" Jisoo blinked seeing the expression on Taeyeon's face, the girl seemed distraught. She nods not saying a thing as she and Taeyeon walked to the car,
"It's just you and me now." Taeyeon smiles as Jisoo looks at her softly, she felt bad because it seemed like the older wanted to cry.
"Yeah." She says before her phone buzzed,
TheBetterKim: I talked to my parents about moving to Korea.
TheBetterKim: I think they wanna adopt you too.
Jisoo shuts off her phone before bringing her attention to Taeyeon,
"Hey, Taeyeon? Can we bake something tomorrow?" Jisoo asks as Taeyeon smiles,
"Of course, anything in mind?"
"Actually-"
TheBetterKim: I'm going to Korea.
