♡ He's... concerning.
♡ Dabi hates that he's fallen so hard for someone so pathetic, so he's more bitter than lovesick. He sees his lover more of a weak little thing he gets to tease relentlessly more than anything.
♡ That doesn't mean he doesn't care, though.
♡ If you consider the environment Dabi grew up in, it's easy to understand why he has such a hard time expressing his affection and admiration he harbors.
♡ Now, contrary to popular belief, I don't think Dabi would be especially violent towards his darling. He may find amusement in the pain of others, but it's different with them. He doesn't want to physically harm them.
♡ That doesn't mean he's a Saint, though.
♡ Dabi is an emotionally abusive yandere.
♡ Specifically, I like to imagine the scenario where his darling is someone who knew him back when he was younger - when he was Touya. He's changed, noticeably, and he knows that all too well. But he's a selfish person, and Dabi's willing to do a lot in order to get what he wants.
♡ Going with that scenario, he makes his childhood darling feel absolutely horrible about what happened to him. He's not shy when talking about it, and it shows.
♡ The expression of undeniable guilt is exactly what he's looking for. He gets it, too.
