Day #4

April 27th- Prompt:

Misunderstanding

"You're driving me crazy."

Roommates AU

——————————————————

The full moon shone beautifully with the small stars in the sky. In a small apartment, an open window pulled in the wind, making two different colors of hair sway with it.

"Thank you for the other night, I was wondering if we could do it again?" A girl with brown long locks asked, shaking a certain redhead's hand, soon giving him a fifty-dollar bill, and finally walking to the exit.

The man, Cale Henituse, nodded in agreement and waved the happy girl off. The long red hair once again swayed in the wind, making the man shiver and stand up to close the window. He looked at the moon before sighing and going to lock the front door, getting ready for bed.

"Hey."

Cale Henituse flinched at the firm voice coming from behind him. Since he had just turned off all the lights, it seemed like a scene out of a horror movie.

Cale slowly got his phone out and put his flashlight on, visibly untensing his body after seeing it was just his roommate, Alberu Crossman. Cale turned on the light to see the stoic bastard in front of him.

"Why are you sneaking around? You were home?" Cale asked as he remembered Alberu saying he was going to go visit his father today and wouldn't be home until late. Though Cale would say it was quite late, it being around midnight at the moment.

"...I got home around nine. Who was that girl?" Alberu said, quickly switching the subject and putting the spotlight on the redhead who raised an eyebrow, not expecting the blonde to be worried by such a thing.

"Does it matter? Have you eaten dinner yet? There are leftovers." Cale said absentmindedly, not noticing the clenched hand of the blonde who looked at the wall that Cale was standing behind earlier blankly.

"It does matter..." Alberu mumbled, looking at his roommate that was heating two plates of leftovers from earlier that day.

After seeing the same girl always coming out of his and Cale's apartment for a week, how can he not be suspicious? The one night he stayed home, his girl wants to 'do something again' and hands Cale a fifty-dollar bill!

Alberu, too jealous to think straight, can't help but think that Cale was doing something unpleasant like selling his body.

He knows how much Cale loves money, but wasn't that going too far? He studied the seemingly normal redhead take the two plates out of their microwave and place them on the island in the middle of the kitchen.

Cale gestured to the blonde to come over and eat, taking a bite from his plate, humming softly as if bored.

"Cale... Are you in a relationship with someone?" Alberu blatantly asked after taking a bite from his own plate. Cale choked on his food because of the straightforward question, chugging a glass of water next to him to calm down.

"What?" Cale asked in disbelief, not expecting such a straightforward question from the blonde. He was quite confused on why Alberu would think that them being extremely close forever. Alberu should know that Cale had no interest in romance, especially when he already had many things to deal with.

"Of course not. What made you think that?" Cale asked, getting another glass of water and drinking it, his throat feeling dry because of the food entering the wrong pipe.

Alberu stayed silent and they both slowly ate their food, the air a bit tense because of the question.

Once Cale finished washing the dishes, Alberu was about to walk away. "Why did you ask such a question? Was it because of that girl?" Cale questioned, drying his hand with a rag, looking at the stiff blonde who was looking his way.

"What's your relationship with that girl?" Alberu asked, not answering the redhead who clicked his tongue, annoyed that he was ignored.

"She was out of town for a week and since we are in the same major at Seoul University, she asked if I could babysit her younger brother living with her," Cale explained, wondering what Alberu was thinking as the blonde sighed in relief.

"Ha... You're driving me crazy." Cale mumbled, grabbing the hand of Alberu who flinched at the sudden physical touch.

Cale brought them to their couch which confused Alberu as he sat down next to his roommate.

"I didn't mean to accuse you. I just know that you're a crazy bastard who's obsessed with money so-" Before Alberu could finish his sentence, his head was yanked down by a certain redhead who laid his head on his lap.

"Cale?" Alberu asked, his cheeks dusted pink because of the sudden act of affection from that stoic bastard.

"Ha.. Your so clingy." Cale teased, running his fingers through the soft blonde hair which made Alberu tense up for a second, soon relaxing to the touch.

Alberu opened and closed his mouth, not expecting the man who just said he wasn't interested in romance casually do such an act with a stoic expression on his face.

"You can relax. I don't plan on getting with any girls anytime soon." Cale whispered softly, twirling the blonde hair with his fingers. Alberu's face became a bit more warm at the word 'girls', knowing he left males out on purpose.

Though it was unlike Alberu, he covered his warm face, trying to calm his beating heart.

How long did Cale know about his feelings for him?

"No need to be embarrassed. Sleep now. Rest assured, I will always be by your side." Cale whispered. Alberu closed his eyes, content with how the night was going.

Both seemed to put down their walls for that night, sharing their true feelings for each other and accepting each other's silence, resting on the couch with the dim light from the kitchen coaxing the duo.

Cale smiled at the sleeping Alberu, following suit soon after.

"I love you, you damned idiot," Cale mumbled softly, letting a small, genuine smile on his face, resting his hand on the golden hair on his lap.

I will edit this later :,) tell me if there is anything that doesn't make sense!

This one was a bit shorter than the rest-

Oh well I think it's pretty wholesome compared to the last two chapters :,)

Hope you enjoyed it!

In all of these, Alberu is just a big simp it seems 🥺
