I pushed a piece of her blond hair behind her ear and my lips gently left a kiss on her head. Her soft snores echoed through the quiet hospital room. She has been asleep for a few hours now, she looked so peaceful when she slept, she looked like an angel. That's what she was. Delilah was my angel, she always has been. The compass to my ship, the light that leads me through the stormiest weathers. Without her I'd miss her forever like the stars miss the sun in the morning skies. She brightened the sun on my rainy days, as she would just speak lightening any room she walked into. I hummed a tune, my voice wasn't as great as it used to be but I began to sing,"Feeling your touch all around
Peacefully hearing the sound
Of silence around us, I'm so glad we found us this way
Find me, here in your arms
Now I'm wondering where you've always been
And blindly, I came to you
Knowing you'd breathe new life from within, I can't get enough of you" I hummed to the song and continued to sing lightely to my precious angel,"I want to be where you are
In times of need I just want you to stay
I leave a note on your car
When I can't find the right words to say
Hearing your voice all around
The last place we're going is down
I'll blindly follow, knowing you're leading the way "
Her eyes gently fluttered open and a smile forced its way onto her graceful lips,"You're voice is still as amazing as it was years ago, Still sweeping woman off their feet,"
I smiled and took her hand in mind,"You're the only woman I want to sweep of her feet,"
"You don't have to try much harder, I've already fallen, and I can't get up," A chuckle escaped my lips as I remininced and rememerbed the old commerical we all used to laugh at.
"Continue our Story, Harry." She says as her eyes twinkle the way they did years ago,"I want to hear more."
My tongue ran over my dried lips,"What do you want hear?"
"I want to hear it all, every part is my favorite."
A smile grew on my cheeks,"Once upon a time a simple boy fell in love with a princess..."
*Flashback*
"Heyyyyy there Delilah what's it like in new york city..." My voice sang as I danced around with her around the house,"I'm a thousand miles away but girl, tonight you look so pretty, Yes you dooo-o-o" A smile broke out onto Delilah's face as she tried to let go of my grip.
"Knock it off, Styles." She tried to hide her blush but it was quite visible on her cheeks. It was a week before I was going to try out for X Factor. Nerves were flying aroudn my body, but not about the audtion..about the aftermath, if I get in, how would I deal with being away from De?
"Harry? You okay?" Her voice filled with genuine worry. She stopped what she was doing and sat next to me on the countertop,"Harry, you can talk to me, for gods sake, tell me what's wrong."
I shrugged,"It's nothing, De." It was that moment I could've told her I was truly madly deeply in love with her. But I couldn't, it wasn't something I could really put into words. Especially becauseI'd be leaving, it'd make saying goodbye so much harder. She shoved my shoulder,"C'mon Harry, you think I'd actually fall for that?"
I chuckled,"I'm tired, that's all, let's go get some coffee, yeah?"
She sighed, and wiped her hands on the cloth,"Lemme just get dressed, I looked horrid, can't go in public looking like this." She skipped up the stairs,
"You always look beautiful, De," I mummbled to myself. I was about to get lost in though but Delilah can down the steps in minute dressed in highwaisted jeans shorts and a flowy floral tank top covered by a tan cardigan. Her url blonde hair cascaded down her back.
"Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo," She pracitcally sung as she skipped out of the house. She grabbed my hand and we walked down the street into town. I felt something when our skin touched, a feeling I could never put into a simple word or sentence, it was a feeling people write novels about. Our fingers were still intertwined as we walked up to the all too familiar coffee shop.
Her eyes scanned the lists of coffees, latte's and all the other drinks I couldn't pronounce. I knew exactly what she was going to get, she'd always look through the list and debate on an item but always would choose a caramel frappuccino with extra whipcream and chocolate syrup. No matter the day, weather, anything, she'd end up with that by the time we left the small corner shop.
"Hi, May I take your order?" The older teen asked us with no emotion, I nodded and said the usual plain coffee. I looked at Delilah,"I think I'm going to take the doublemocha latte!" Her voice seemed questioning, the cashier typed in our order but Delilah panicked,"Wait! I'm so sorry, can I change my order?" I let out a chuckle to myself, and the monotone girl nodded and giggled at her, she really could light up anyone's day,"I want the caramel frappuccino with extra whipcream and chocolate syrup" I mouthed her order behind her. I took my wallet out and began to pay,"Haz, I can pay."
I shook my head,"I'm being the gentleman, De." within seconds the girl handed us our drinks and we found our seat in the deserted coffee shop. She had a bright smile on her face as she sipped her drink,"God, this is my favorite."
Nodding my head,"I know,"
"So Styles, are you excited to become a international superstar?"
I shrugged,"Eh,"
"C'mon, Har, you know you're going to get so far!" Her excitement brought a small smile to my face. But an aching pain still stung my chest as I remembered trying out, and making it far would mean leaving my best friend. Of course there would be skype, texting, and calling...but it's definitely not the same. To be around her would brighten your day, and talking to her over the phone and hearing her voice would just make me miss her even more, knowing I wouldn't be able to hold her hand, even if it was just as a friend.
"It's just going to suck, I'm really guna miss ya," I managed to say without describing how I can't go a day without hearing her beautiful voice. Without saying I would barely be able to sleep at night without one of her goodnight hugs I would recieve daily.
She stuck out her bottom lip,"Aw wittle harry is gon' miss his best fraaaaaann" She was now pinching my cheeks across the table,"I'll miss you too, Darlin'"
"You're ridiculous, De."
"I know," She nodded her head with a smile. Her eyes were stuck to mine, a moment of silence rushed over the both of us. I was lost in her eyes. They were dragging me in. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. How I wanted to spend forever with her. Sounds drastic, but I could never imagine having someone else in my arms, breathing in someone else's scent. I wanted Delilah, I wanted everything about her. She broke the contact, he cheeks were evidently the darkest shade of pink. Her straw was sitting in her mouth as she sipped her drink to avoid her thoughts. She often would hide herself to hide from her mind, I noticed she would always do this.
In that moment I took a deep breath and accepted the fact that I was head over heels for my best friend, for my princess.
*End of Flashback*
My angel was fast asleep, but it was okay. She already knew the ending to the story. I watched her chest move up and down, her heart was still beating, and that's what I was thankful for. Still having her here, even if it was just for a few more minutes. Every second with her counts, I promise you that. The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. My princess gave me happiness, if it came down to it, I would've traded my whole life for a few more minute with her.
