Once upon a time there was a baker who had three sons. All three were very handsome, but especially the youngest, named Michael. In addition to being handsome, he was also kind and that is why his proud brothers envied him and considered him stupid for spending the day playing the piano and surrounded by books.
It happened that suddenly the baker lost everything he had and had nothing left but a humble house in the country. He had to move there with his children and told them that they had no choice but to learn to farm. The two older brothers refused from the first moment while Michael faced the situation with determination:
- Crying I won't get anything, working yes. I can be happy even if I am poor.
So Michael was the one who did everything. He prepared the food, cleaned the house, farmed the land, and even found time to read. His brothers, far from being grateful to him, insulted him and made fun of him.
They had been living like this for a year when the baker received a letter informing him that a ship that had just arrived was bringing his merchandise. Hearing the news, the eldest sons only thought that they could recover their former life and rushed to ask their father to bring them expensive suits. Michael, on the other hand, only asked his father to be very careful on the way and return with good news.
