Over time, Michael began to warm to the beast. He realized how hard she tried to please him and every day he discovered new virtues in her. But despite that, when every day the beast asked him if he wanted to be his husband, he always answered honestly:

Despite this, the Beast did not get angry but heaved a long sigh and disappeared.
One day Michael asked the beast to let him go see his father, since he had fallen ill. The beast did not put any impediment and only asked him to please come back soon if he did not want to find him dying of sadness.

Michael was at his father's house for ten days. He was already thinking of going back when he dreamed of the beast in the castle garden half dead.
He immediately returned to the castle and did not see her anywhere. He remembered his dream and found him in the garden. The poor beast hadn't been able to bear being away from him.
