2 - Food For Thought

"Hi! I'm Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm gonna be king of the pirates!" The man said.

Naruto just stared at him with confusion. "Luffy, you idiot, he probably doesn't even know what pirates are." A blonde man behind Luffy said. Luffy looked at him while scratching the back of his head. "Hehehe, sorry. Anyway, kid, why are you crying?" Luffy asked.

Naruto quickly rubbed his eyes and put on a tough guy act. "No, I'm not crying!" Luffy wasn't convinced, however. "I know what I heard, kid. Are you hungry?" Luffy said.

Naruto, trying to keep his act up, replied. "N-no." But his act was silenced when his stomach growled loudly enough for everyone to hear. "Hehe, that's all I need to hear, come on kid, let's get some food!" Luffy announced. "Then I'll get the kitchen ready." The blonde man said. It was then when Naruto noticed he had bags full of food in his arms.

Naruto didn't want to stay in the alley for much longer, so he went ahead and joined them. He left the alley and saw that there were five people in total. Luffy, the blonde man, a man with a weird long nose, a woman with orange hair, and a woman with black hair.

"Eh? Who's the kid?" The man with a long nose said. "Calm down Usopp, this is, uh...what's your name again?" Luffy asked. Naruto hesitated for a second.

"N-Namik...Uzumaki Naruto."

The black-haired woman noticed something. "You were about to say Namikaze, weren't you? Are you related to lord fourth?" She asked. Naruto looked down and clenched his fists. "Not anymore, I refuse to be known as his son."

"But why? Aren't you basically royalty here?" The orange-haired girl asked. "Does being hated by everyone in the village, including your own father count as being royalty? If so, then I might as well be the hokage now."

Everyone was surprised about what he just said. His own father hates him? He's the hokage, he should love everyone, right? "That's it, I'm gonna go kick his ass." Luffy said while winding up his arm, with the blonde man ready to follow him.

"Don't bother." Naruto said, catching their attention. "You'll have the entire village against you, and I don't want that for you. Especially if they know you did it because of me."

"Then lets just go back to the ship to eat, I'm hungry." Luffy said as he started walking away to the entrance of the village. Everyone followed, including Naruto, even though he was nervous about leaving the village.

He has been outside the village before, but he's only been to the shoreline and the ports, never off the island. But these people apparently have a ship to traverse the seas, and he was excited to see this.

They weren't even close to the port yet, but Naruto could still see the gigantic ship in the distance, even in the night, I almost seemed to glow to Naruto. It was semi-circular in shape with a large figure at the front that looked like a lion, as well as two tall masts holding folded up sails. The ship was bigger than the ones he had seen in books.

They got close to the ship, and a figure peaked over the edge. This figure had long blue hair pointed upwards, and an open tropical shirt on, showing his chest. "Hey captain! Is this place SUPER enough to explore?!" The man yelled.

"Nah, it's not what I expected!" Luffy yelled back. "But we have a guest, so let the others know!" "On it!"

One by one, the crew went up the bridge leading to the main deck, which was covered in grass, confusing Naruto. He saw that everyone was going to what he guessed was the kitchen, so he followed them. He entered and saw the massive kitchen, with a large table that was able to seat at least ten people.

The blonde made his way behind the bar-like counter and instantly began to get to work. While he was working, he sat down with everyone else at the table and they began to ask him questions.

"So Naruto, what's being a ninja like? Is it fun?" Usopp asked. Naruto, only being in the middle of the ninja academy, wasn't technically a ninja yet, but he still answered. "Actually, I'm not a ninja, at least not yet. But I know it's fun to be one, you get to do so many crazy things as a shinobi." This got Luffy and Usopp excited.

"REALLY?! CAN YOU SHOW US!" They both shouted at the same time. Naruto was nervous since he didn't know very many jutsu, but he still showed them what he knew.

Naruto did a few hand signs and yelled. "Transformation jutsu!" He puffed into a cloud of smoke, and when it disappeared, there stood another Luffy. "Waaaaah! It's another me! THAT'S SO COOL! It reminds me of bon-chan." Luffy yelled in excitement.

Everyone else was surprised in the same way. It was then that the kitchen door opened to reveal a man with green hair, the same man that yelled down from the ship, a walking skeleton, and a...racoon-dog?

They took a few steps inside the room and froze at the scene in front of them. "Guys, look, another me!" Luffy called out. The ones that just walked in just stared in confusion, well, except for the racoon-dog, he was freaking out.

Naruto got kinda scared with the amount of people now in the room, so he poofed back into his normal form. The new people became even more shocked, but the green-haired one was more curious. "Are you a ninja?" He asked, but Naruto didn't get to answer.

"Yep he is, Zoro. He's cool, isn't he?" Luffy said with stars still in his eyes. Zoro walked up to the new kid, making Naruto nervous. "Are you really a ninja?" He asked, and Naruto shakily nodded. "Hm." Zoro simply said before he walked away.

"It's also good to see you up again, Zoro. I thought you'd be out again after the party last night." Usopp commented. It was then that Naruto noticed all the bandages covering Zoro's body nearly head to toe.

The racoon-dog jumped on the table and began to speak. "That's where he should be right now, but he refuses to rest just a little longer." Naruto was the one in shock now. "D-did that thing just talk." He said, pointing to the animal.

Everyone paused at the comment, but then burst out laughing, including the racoon-dog. "This is chopper, the doctor of the crew." The orange-haired lady said. "Speaking of which, we should probably introduce ourselves, huh? My name's Nami, the navigator."

"OW! I'M FR-R-R-RANKY! THE SUPEEER SHIPWRIGHT!" Franky said as he struck his forearms together to form a star with his tattoos.

"The name's Usopp. The best shot on these seas and the sniping king."

"My name is Nico Robin, it's nice to meet you."

"Yohohoho, I'm Brook. What kind of music do you like?" Naruto looked at the tall skeleton with confusion. "How?" Naruto simply said. "I don't know either! It must be from the devil fruit I ate. But wait, I don't have a stomach, yohohoho!"

"Moving on, just call me Sanji, I'm the chef. And the idiot sleeping over there is Zoro, don't pay much attention to him."

"I heard that curly-brow!" Zoro said with his eyes still closed.

"Finally, that leaves me, I already said my name, but I'll say it again. I'm Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm going to become king of the pirates!"

"I guess this village is really sheltered from the outside world, because I didn't know pirates were still a thing." Naruto said.

"Called it!" Sanji yelled from behind the counter.

"I also thought pirates were bad guys, but you guys seem really nice compared to the story's I've heard about them." Naruto continued. "Oh there's plenty of bad pirates in this world, but we want to make this world a better place for everyone." Luffy said, making his crew smile in agreement.

"But before we can do that, let's dig in!" Sanji said as he practically threw plates full of food onto the table. Everyone started to eat, but Naruto looked at the food in amazement. "I-i've never seen this much food before." He said softly.

"Well you better hurry up and eat before it's all gone." Sanji said. Naruto looked at the food and saw that almost half of it was already gone, mostly by Luffy. So he grabbed some meat and began to eat.
