Togami shuffled through the crowed streets. Light snow fell from above and slowly made its way to the ground, chilling the dark world around him. It was all disgusting to Togami. Everything around him was a blur, he was too tired to focus on anything. At this point, the walk from his cramped office to his apartment building was like second-nature. He didn't even have to look up anymore. He had already done it so many times.Byakuya shivered and snuggled further into his jacket as he walked. It was freezing. He quickened his pace. All he wanted was to plop down on his bed and sleep until the next morning, where he would repeat the same thing all of again.
All over again.
If he wasn't so tired, he'd break down. Right then and there. He needed excitement. He needed adventure. He needed something to rescue him from this boring loop of his horrible life. He just needed a break.
Something caught his eye and he stopped, without even thinking about it. He turned around and faced a window to, what seemed like, a small coffee shop. A dimly lit, welcoming glow came from the pane. There were few people in there, and whether they were talking to others or just on their own, everything seemed calm.
Togami snapped out of his trance and shook his head, before turning his back to the small building and walking away. Why was he so fixated on that place?
"Uhm- sir?"
Byakuya stopped dead in his tracks, before turning around. Standing in the doorway was a muscular man, slightly taller then him. His hair was long, but it was tied back into a messy bun. He wore a plain t-shirt and an apron, presumably a barista.
"I- uh- saw you. Looking through the window. Ya' wanna come inside?"
Without a second thought, Togami nodded. Surely he couldn't leave now. The man had invited him in, and it would be considered rude to deny. Of course, Togami normally didn't have a problem with being rude, but this time it was different. He himself didn't even know why. He decided to blame the cold weather for his eagerness.
The man's lips curled into a smile, before he stepped aside to let Byakuya in. Togami trudged into the building, but paused at the doorway. The warm air from the room wrapped around him like a hug, and the smell of mocha filled his lungs. He took a deep breath, familiarizing himself with his new surroundings.
In the midst of all this, the man who had invited him in made his way to behind the counter, and was watching Togami.
"It's nice, isn't it? The perfect place to hide from the cold weather for awhile."
Togami nodded as he walked up to the counter, pulling out his wallet. "I won't be here for long. I'd like a Civet Coffee. Make it quick."
"Ah, alright then! Coming right up!" The man flashed him a grin, before getting to work.
As Togami watched him, he couldn't help but feel intimidated. There was no reason for it. The man's physique itself was unsettling, and even though he only showed kindness, Togami made sure to stay on alarm. He didn't easily place his trust into others.
"What's yer' name sir?"
"Hm-?"
Togami was interrupted from his thoughts. The man had finished making his coffee and pulled out a pen from the pocket of his apron.
"Uh- your name."
"Why should someone like myself give it to you?"
The other let out a soft chuckle.
"So I can write it down on yer' cup, hotshot."
Togami paused for a moment, before sighing and crossing his arms.
"Byakuya. Byakuya Togami. But it would be just Togami to someone like you."
The man nodded and pulled the cap off of the pen with his teeth, before writing "Togami" on the paper cup. He closed the pen and put it back into his pocket, before handing the cup to Byakuya.
"Have a nice rest of yer' night, Togami."
Byakuya left without answering him.
I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW COFFEE SHOPS WORK SO FORGIVE ME IF THIS IS NOT LIKE IT AT ALL-
