"Severus," Salazar called quietly, "Blakely is here and he looks angry."
"Let him in," Severus replied, as Harry looked nervous. "It's all right, hatchling," he reassured Harry gently. "Come here."
His soon-to-be son quickly joined him on the couch and buried his face in Severus' chest just as the door opened, and Blakely entered. Severus felt a flash of affection but kept his face an unreadable mask.
"Well?" he asked Blakely sharply. The man did look angry, but not at him. He also looked a little green.
"Petunia and Vernon Dursley have been arrested for child abuse," Blakely said automatically. "You can adopt Mr. Potter now." He paused. "And Dumbledore is being investigated. He was the child's magical guardian, he was supposed to check up on him, but he didn't."
Severus snarled quietly, pulling Harry closer. "Investigated by who?"
"Alastor Moody-"
"No," Severus retorted. "Pick someone who was neutral in the war. A majority of the Dark Aurors will arrest Dumbledore without investigating, and a majority of the Light Aurors will immediately say that he's innocent. Moody is too loyal to Dumbledore."
Blakely frowned, looking down at Harry again. "That's... a good idea," he admitted grudgingly. Severus resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "I'll tell Amelia to send Gordon Reed and Maya Smith." The Auror turned to leave, but then paused. "Mr. Potter?" he said in a softer tone.
Harry reluctantly looked up at him, his expression anxious.
"Was there anything at your... relative's house that you wanted?"
The boy shook his head and went back to hiding his face in Severus' robes.
Blakely sighed. "Will you be blood-adopting him?" he asked Severus tightly.
"Yes," Severus said quietly.
The Auror clenched his jaw. "With your own equipment, or the goblins'?"
"My own." Severus didn't really trust the goblins. Yes, they were perfect if he needed something that the Ministry had made illegal -- Gringotts wasn't a part of the British magical community, but part of the goblin nation -- but they were greedy and far too suspicious of humans. Severus trusted his own potions and spells more.
Blakely left as quickly as possible. Severus rolled his eyes.
"D... Dad?" Harry mumbled into his robes.
"Yes, hatchling?" Severus asked fondly.
"What's blood-adoption?"
