A/N: Hello! Since this is a fic based on ceramics, if you are unfamiliar with it, I have some important terms used in this story below to help with any confusion.
Pinch potting: a method used to create small trinkets or structure by pinching clay to mold into your desired shape.
Slab building: a method used to create buildings or boxes by rolling out clay like dough, then measuring and cutting out pieces of clay.
Coil building: a method used to create attachments, cups, bowls, and pots without spinning the clay on a wheel by rolling out long strings of clay and stacking it on top of one another to create your desired shape.
Clay throwing/spinning: a method commonly used in ceramics to create cups, bowls, pots, plates, jars, and vases by spinning clay on a pottery wheel.
Slip: a thick mixture of clay and water, commonly used as an adhesive when sticking pieces of clay together.

Akaashi Keiji would say he's a reasonable man. He has realistic desires and reachable expectations, and yet he currently finds himself with the most unrealistic thoughts yet, all because of strong arms and tapered grey hair.
Keiji doesn't have much hobbies that isn't work or school related, which is why Bokuto thinks it's a great idea to drag him to a ceramics studio he recently found out about, a 10 minute walk from their university.
Keiji tells himself the only reason he's agreed to it is because of Bokuto's enthusiasm, but he really only agrees because Bokuto claims Keiji can make himself a mug to use at home, and for some reason that's enough to make Keiji agree.
The first two days goes somewhat smoothly, they learn the basics of clay, how to use it, and certain methods used to make certain things.
They used the pinch-potting method to make an animal ocarina, Keiji making a frog and Bokuto a duck. For the slab building method, Bokuto made a jewelry box for his mother, Keiji a box to put on his desk. With the coil building method, Keiji makes an urn for Kuroo's dog that recently passed away, and Bokuto makes a bowl and a vase.
Keiji learns that there are three different instructors every class, some repeat more than others due to their small schedules, but one of the instructors seems to always be there. It's hard not to notice him with the way his deep voice seeps into the ears, face easy on the eyes, and a dimple that surfaces through on the left side of his face whenever a small, lazy smile stretches onto the mans face.

A week goes by, and as the class wraps up their hand building unit, they're slowly being introduced to clay throwing, and the same instructor who seems to have caught Keiji's eye- who learns his name is Miya Osamu- has everyone gather around a wheel as he will present a throwing demonstration for the class.
"Alright, today 'm gonna present a demo on throwin' a cup, no one will be throwin' today, but next class. We jus' want ya guys ta get a feel of how this looks an' what ta expect before ya guys go off on yer own." The man announces, pulling an apron over his head and fastening the band behind his back as he speaks.
"Yer gonna wanna sit to the wheel as close as possible, ya wanna be connected ta the wheel ta have a greater amount 'a control." He states, bringing the stool behind him as close to the wheel as he can, sitting and spreading his legs so his knees touch the sides of the splash pan.
"'M gonna start with takin' ma clay and formin' it inta a ball by slappin' it, this helps keep out air bubbles an' shapes the clay ta be ready fer the wheel." He states, earning a few nods and hums as the slight sound of slapping clay fills the room.
