yes im starting a new story shut up and this is a long chapter 4 me
btw im putting in youmus swr spellcards plus others as her pseudo breathing style so watch those if u want
also im using manga dialogue bc i dont have the attention span for the anime
AND b4 u say anything youmu calls haoris things bc haoris did not start to be worn until the edo period! and gensokyo is in the feudal era. which was 1185-1603. before the edo period. 1185-1603 barely angbody wore haoris bc of like edicts and stuff so + pretty much nobody in gensokyo wears a haori closest would be akyuu and kosuzu---
"My name is Youmu Konpaku. I come from Gensokyo. I reside in Hakugyoukuro, the afterlife. Gardener of Hakugyoukuro and swordsmanship teacher of the Mistress. I am a half-phantom, half-human." She spoke with her head touching the ground, body positioned in a deep bow.
Truly, she wonders how she had gotten into this. 'Oh well, I'll have to explain, anyway,' she blinks.
It had been only shortly after she, the shrine maiden, and the magician, had ventured into hell to stop the beast spirits from invading the surface world. Youmu was disappointed in herself for getting possessed of all things, but her Mistress said that it was fine, so she told herself that it was as well. She worked harder, and harder, until eventually, she encountered one of the Sages of Gensokyo. (More like the Sage came to her.) The Gap Youkai. "Don't you want to have fun, for once?" The Gap Youkai told her from her place hanging from a gap in the air. Youmu blinked silently, lowering her sword. "I have to stay with my Mistress and teach her. You know that, right? Gardening is important, too. Though, you might not know that."
The Gap Youkai— Yukari, as she requested to be called all those years ago when Youmu and her mistress attempted to make the Saigyouji Akashi bloom— let out a mournful, yet obviously fake sigh. "Ah, how mean! You're so straightforward, Myon!" Myon? "I promise I won't let any harm come to that mistress of yours, and I won't let her slack off," Yukari giggled quietly to herself, "so take a break! It'll be fun, I promise... Or maybe not! But you know, where I'll send you will really help you in teaching your mistress. It'll make you improve your sword skills! The techniques there are definitely easy to learn for somebody like you." Yukari's gaze glanced over to Youmu's swords; Roukanken and Hakurouken. "I'll even give you a teacher, free of charge! Hahah!"
"No. I don't want a new mentor. I'm fine on my own." Youmu would like if she could improve her sword skills, but if she had to get a new mentor, she would be fine on her own. Even if he did decide to just fully disappear after dropping her off at Hakugyoukuro with two new jobs at a very young age. (It's a lesson, she thinks. Probably.) Yukari pouted, "Well, just being there will make you improve. You don't need a new mentor, you just need to learn one thing!" Youmu thought for a moment, before she nodded. Yukari clapped, a bright smile on her face. "Great! Just one thing to note... We're in the Kamakura period, aren't we?" Youmu doesn't know what that has to do with anything, but she nodded again. "This world— it's in the Taisho period."
The "Taisho Period"?
As far as Youmu knows, that doesn't exist.
"The future."
Ah. That explains it... The future...
The outside world.Youmu would be lying if she said she never wanted to see the outside world. She was curious, yes, she always was. She is but a child, and children are curious. Youmu sheathed her sword, and turned to properly face Yukari. "You want to go, don't you? Plus, your mistress can survive just fine!" Youmu knew that. After all, control over death is very powerful. "Yes. I'll go. But, ah, what is the thing I need to learn before I do? So I can be prepared."
