Chapter 13: Another Hospital Visit
3rd person P.O.V.
The girl lay there, frozen and unconscious. The excited crowd could be heard all the way from where she was. The marching of the crowd rumbled closer and closer. Three figures at the front of the crowd halted to a stop right in front of the girl that was blocking the exit to venture out to the Quidditch Pitch. The sound of gasps could be heard.
"Is it another Petrifying?!" a petite girl cried.
"Of course it's not, stupid! Harry Potter killed the monster last year!" A buff fifth year boy retorted back.
"Make room. Move!" Madame Pomfrey, the school matron, yelled as she tried to maneuver her way through the panicking crowd to the hurt child.
"Just shove the kid out of the way so we can get to the game!" A sixth year Slytherin boy shouted, annoyed because he wanted to watch the game before the weather got too bad.
By that time, Madame Pomfrey had made it to the front of the crowd, conjured up a stretcher, and had started directing it towards the hospital wing, away from the rambunctious crowd.
Some of the more impatient people in the crowd started pushing though to get to the game. The rest of the large group followed after. If only they knew what was in store for a little lightning-scared boy. If only he knew himself.
Maddi's P.O.V.
Black. I could only see black. My hearing was just fine, and I still had feeling in my body. I just...couldn't move. I could hear the footsteps of someone moving around, and I could hear the clanking of glass phials somewhere nearby. I could also hear the rain drumming against the windows. I just couldn't see any of it. I tried to remember why I was here, but my mind would go fuzzy when I tried to think of it. I could hear more footsteps. Someone was shouting and there were people rushing around me. What was going on? I longed for my eyes to open so I could see what was happening.
After what seemed like 10 minutes, everybody seemed to calm down. They started talking to each other. I could tell that they were to the left of me. I still didn't know what happened, and I still couldn't open my eyes. It was getting frustrating.
Soon, there were footsteps going around my bed. "What happened to her?" I heard someone ask.
"We aren't completely sure. She was hit by a mix of a few curses, but we don't know why. We are hoping she can tell us when she wakes up." I am awake! I tried to yell. I can't move! Isn't your job to notice that and help me! I screamed.
Apparently I made some sort of noise because the next thing I knew, somebody was shaking me and trying to get me to wake up.
"Are you awake?" A lady was feeling my arms and legs. When she got to my hands, they were frozen in a weird looking form. She muttered some things under her breath and I felt a wand tap me. Suddenly, my eyes flew open and I sat up quickly. I was in the hospital wing, and Harry was in his Quidditch uniform in the bed next to me. He looked pale. After assuring Madame Pomfrey that I was okay and chugging down some gross potions, I asked the Gryffindor Quidditch team that was splattered from head to toe with mud and gathered around Harry's bed what had happened.
After Hermione told me the scary story of the dementors crashing the Quidditch game, Ron commented, "Lucky the ground was soft."
"I thought he was dead for sure."
"But he didn't even break his glasses."
"That was the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life." They all spoke at once.
Harry's eyes snapped open. He looked around at everyone by his bed and then at me.
"Harry," Fred shouted, "How're you feeling?" Harry looked confused, but then his face gave a look of recognition and then his face paled.
"What happened?" he asked.
"You fell off," said Fred. "Must've been-what-fifty feet?"
"We thought you'd died," said Alicia, who was shaking a lot.
"But the match," said Harry. "What happened? Are we doing a replay?"
Nobody said anything. I knew that they lost, but nobody wanted to tell him. "We didn't-lose?"
"Diggory got the Snitch," said George. "Just after you fell. He didn't realize what had happened. When he looked back and saw you on the ground, he tried to call it off. Wanted a rematch, but they won fair and square...even Wood admits it."
They continued to talk, but I was interrupted by Madame Pomfrey making me take some more potions. "Professor Dumbledore will be here soon." I nodded and sat there, waiting for him to come and thinking about what did happen. It had to have been about five minutes, and I still couldn't figure out what had happened. The doors suddenly opened, and I jumped.
Professor Dumbledore came marching in along with Lupin and a scowling Snape.
"Miss Fairchild," Dumbledore spoke softly. I pulled back the sheets and started to crawl out of bed, but Madame Pomfrey stopped me.
"She can't leave this bed." She said as she pushed me back down.
"This matter is...private, may I say, ma'am." Snape said, wanting to get away from the Gryffindors that were next to me, watching the entire thing play out.
"Fine. Everyone, out." She jerked a thumb towards the exit. As Harry tried to crawl out of his bed, she motioned for him to sit back down. "Except for Potter, he can't go." I heard Lupin sigh next to me. Was it really that secretive that even Harry couldn't hear it? Madame Pomfrey then turned around and briskly walked into her office so that she wouldn't get in trouble for being a bother.
"There are a few things that we need to talk about. I was wondering if you have had anything you need to talk to me about, if you've had any more dreams?" Dumbledore asked while glancing at Harry who was listening in on our conversation.
I shook my head. I had known about what had happened to Harry before it happened, but I really didn't want to say anything in front of him, because I didn't want him to get mad at me for not stopping it.
He gave me a knowing look. "We'll talk later. Now, we need to know what happened to you this morning."
"I don't know." I mumbled. I was met with silence. When I looked up, I saw four shocked faces.
Great.
