"Uh...Kamado-sensei, what exactly are we doing?" questioned Manami who had a look of confusion.
The three students along with Tanjiro were sitting outside with a small wooden table where it also had 3 rows of cups, but were not only spread apart somewhat, they also were slightly filled with water. The Breathing teacher sat on the other side with a small smile on his face, but the three just assumed he was having a shit-eating grin on the inside.
After hearing Manami ask that question, Tanjiro replied with "Today, I've decided to switch things up a little bit and we're gonna do some reflex training, but with cups as you can see."
Izuku, Kyouka, and Manami looked at one another with either doubtfulness, disbelief, or confusion for a bit then faced their teacher.
"With all due respect Sensei, but how will this...help us exactly?" asked Kyouka who had an eyebrow raised.
"Mainly to help improve not only reflexes, but also reaction timing. Even I used to do it during my days of training. Let me explain how it works."
He then explained how the exercise worked where two people would try to splash one another with water, however they would have to prevent each other from doing it. Izuku then raised his hand.
"Excuse me Kamado-sensei, but how would we prevent each other from splashing one another?"
"Quite easily actually." Tanjiro replied. "You have to make sure to prevent one another from picking up a cup to splash you. I will need a volunteer to help give a demonstration."
The Wind Breathing trainee offered to go and got into place on the other side and waited for the next instruction as Manami and Kyouka sat in different spots to be able to spectate.
"Ok, now pick any cup and try to splash me with it." After the demon teacher said that, Izuku picked one of the cups and reached for it. Right when he was about to pick it up, the greenette felt it go down within a heartbeat. He looked up at Tanjiro with widened eyes then attempted for another cup which ended with the same result. Once another minute or two passed, Tanjiro grabbed a cup and splashed Izuku. The other two students were flabbergasted at the speed he exhibited.
"Now you three may be wondering if I am using Total Concentration, but I am not. Not even in a constant manner. If you'd like to, you can try again with it." Hearing their sensei said that, Izuku then breathed and was eager to try again.
"Even if I can't beat Kamado-sensei, maybe I can have a better chance with Total Concentration." The greenette spoke mentally and prepared to go again. He may have had a somewhat better chance due to the enhancements from Total Concentration, but it still proved futile since their teacher can still run circles around them in speed and reflexes. Izuku had a somewhat crestfallen look due to having lost many times.
"Don't feel too disappointed Izuku-san." When he looked up at Tanjiro, Izuku noticed his smile which he also felt exuded warmth. "This is only your first day doing it after all. When you get more practice out of this, you'll have better reflexes with and without Breathing so for now, just see this as the starting point." His spirits rose up once he heard that, and expressed a look of determination.
Tanjiro then moved to the side for someone else to try it and Kyouka volunteered. Once she sat down, Izuku exhaled out of Total Concentration and they prepared to start. The two started somewhat slow so that the purplette could get accustomed to it and over time, start doing the training properly. After going for a few rounds, Tanjiro suggested for the now somewhat drenched students to take a small break while he refills the cups and later bring Manami up to speed.
