It's rlly sad.
TW-mind control, death, gore, weapons mentioned, depressed thoughts, self-blame

Ever since Thomas came up in the box, the glade has turned upside down. He showed up looking innocent enough, confused and scared like any other greenie keeping everyone's guard down just like he wanted us to. Thomas, within two days, has the bright idea to run into the maze and break the most important rule we have. Not only that, he miraculously survives the death trap and supposedly kills a griever in the process, something that has never been done ever before without thinking he could've possibly angered the creatures we are surviving from.

Alby and Newt, the ignorant slintheads, then decide to only punish him with one night in the pit without food. Minho after makes the choice that the green bean is now becoming a runner, the most important job there is in this tortuous paradise. During the gathering, the greenie alarm goes off an entire month early so everyone was on edge. In the box, there lies a girl, the first and only girl greenie with a note explaining how she is the last one and we aren't getting any more supplies from the creators. She also recognizes Thomas and seems to have some memory of him. So you can see, I don't like the shank.

Before you know it another disaster strikes and the doors to the maze don't close. This is a major problem considering those doors are the only thing keeping us safe day in and day out. A few minutes after we realize the maze is still open, inhumane shrieking fills the glade and the gladers start running and hiding. I end up finding a safe space inside the box to hide with a few fellow builders. Looking up at the glade, fire and disgusting grievers run rampant. Something had to be done.

In the morning I was told that Thomas, the absolute genius he is, decides to sting himself with griever venom and Alby gets killed saving our youngest glader, Chuck. I already know for sure that both he and Teresa are responsible for everything that happened here from when I experienced the changing and regained some memories. Memories of Thomas working with the creators. Once Thomas regains himself from the changing in a few hours, he admits to everyone that they are in fact the reason everyone is put in the maze. As guilt washes over his face, joy appears on mine. Finally an answer I've been waiting for. I decided to band some remaining gladers together to remove the problems from the glade by sacrificing them.

Before we leave Thomas and Teresa to the mechanical creatures, a few gladers decide to turn on me, namely Newt, Minho, Frypan, Chuck, Winston and a few others. They plead for us to come with them to escape the maze so we can be free. I felt cheated and distraught. Couldn't they see the maze is our home? We aren't going to make it out of the maze so why try to. After a few more gladers decide to pack up and go, the traitors finally leave the glade. Everything went great for some hours, everyone was reassigned jobs and I was now the new leader of the glade. Everything was running smoothly, until nightfall.

More horrifying noises came from the doors whom still ceased to close. Shock and panic filled my veins as I scrambled to the box. I told everyone to meet there in case of another attack so the remaining gladers were piled in there. Once I got inside the glade was silent. Until a monstrous scream cascaded on the ears of every individual alive. Slowly, a mechanical clicking noise made its way over to where the boys were hiding.

Everyone held their breath including me, I wanted to seem calm and collected so I was trying to breathe as steadily as I could. What I saw next will haunt me forever.

Two claws managed to slowly hook around the handle of the box opening and lift it open. As the claws opened the door another monstrosity lunged in on all the hidden gladers. Everyone scattered amongst the small area while I jumped for the opening the griever used. I climbed out easily but turned to see the two claws that clung to the handle belonged to another griever. Without missing a beat the creature flung itself at me and pinned me to the ground. I struggled to get up but I was so exhausted from the fear. Then I felt a stabbing pain in my leg. The creature had stung me.

Shockingly, the griever didn't hurt me any further, it just turned tail and ran back into the maze. Suddenly I got up and my legs started moving towards where the griever had just run and I couldn't stop. Slowly I reached the end of the glade turning slightly and stopping to hear the screams of the remaining gladers. Some called out for me, others begged for mercy. Guilt started clutching me in its tight grasp but before I could turn back, I was entering the maze for what might be the last time.

I tried to stop walking with all my might, but my brain echoed one thing. WCKD IS GOOD. My heart was pounding and adrenaline coursed through my body; the more I tried to slow down and stop, the faster I ran. I seemed to be going the same route as the griever that attacked me, and sprinted the entire way there, wherever there was. I had run for a couple of hours before seeing a massacre of grievers and gladers that had chosen to go with Thomas.

My heart stopped as I searched their faces. Surprisingly Thomas and some others were not among the dead that laid there but just as I thought to turn back, I absentmindedly walked to a circular hatch. It looked to be shut in a hurry and it had a code. I looked around to find where I could find a 8 digit code when suddenly the WCKD IS GOOD was replaced by numbers.

I took a chance and entered them when the hatch door unlocked. Shocked to say the least, I entered into a lab filled with blinking fluorescent lights that were eerily familiar. A horrendous smell filled my nose, and I looked down to see various people in doctors uniforms dead on the shiny floors. I walked over to one of the dead, stepping on spilt blood and without thinking I picked up one of the guns on the floor and started moving closer down the hallway.

I opened one of the doors and it led to a bigger area with mass advanced technology everywhere and a video of a older woman explaining their situation as well as the state of the Earth. She said one last phrase that haunted my mind for the last few hours. "WCKD IS GOOD"

I stepped forward as I saw the remaining group of traitors start heading for the door. Suddenly I realized what I was meant to do.

Hatred ran through my heart and brain as tears ran down my face. Even though I felt such betrayal, for the first time, I wanted to let them go so badly but that's not what my voice said. I explained how outside there was nothing for us and how we had to stay. My mind was silently begging for them to run.

I don't want to hurt anyone PLEASE, PLEASE, my thoughts screamed

I held the weapon up and everything in my body wanted me to stop and go back to the glade or join them and leave.

Then I aimed for Thomas and pulled the trigger. Everything went dark as pain shot through my chest, I looked down to see a wooden spear piercing me.

I fell to my knees struggling to breathe and then to my side. The last thing I saw through tears was Chuck on the floor. Poor Chuck must've jumped in front of him just in time. I saw Thomas holding the youngest glader as tears spilled out of his eyes. Feelings of sorrow filled my heart and a pain like no other filled my soul.

What have I done. WHAT HAVE I DONE.

Anger and frustration festered in my thoughts. I finally regained control of my body but at what cost? Now I just lay helpless with other bodies of individuals who actually helped the world. The pain of the makeshift spear was nothing compared to what I felt towards the corrupt act.

Then the doors burst open, bright light filling the darkened workplace. I saw them all run and leave me. I saw Thomas get pulled away from Chuck, reluctance and sorrow evident on his face. Just as fast as they came, everyone was gone and the door of opportunity shut. Words barely escaped my mouth but no one was around to hear them. Finally, the darkness filled my senses and I blacked out for what I thought was the end.
